Do TB eventually deform, and/or lose designed torque resistance, like leaf springs? If so, would the front end sag? Can the bar be twisted, to restore height and response? FWIW, I bought new ones, reasonable price for my 63 Vert, 1.05, I think and am pleased with the ride!
For my 63 SF vert, i bought a reconditioned set of calipers, discs, spindles from a 73 A body, which fit fine, and somewhat cheaper than a new kit. A dual MC also from the same era. Dual brake systems were mandatory from 68 I think, and I would not drive without a dual system.
Apologies to all: I asked for the HD spec, not the factory spec "balls". They have offered to re-do with the standard size balls. So, before I pay for its removal, and re-do, I am trying to decide whether to spend the $ to rebuild the pump.
Yes excellent rebuilder here in Pac NW, I don't want to criticize them publicly, as their turn around time is miraculous, and their customer focus superb. The print out of the alignment is at the mechanic's. It was done to the specs of an 80 Reliant, the oldest their machine had, but is close to...
The front suspension, brakes, and steering is all new on my 63 SF. However, the steering is so stiff that there is no caster return: the car stays in the turn unless I manually wind it back to straight ahead. Alignment is close to specs.
The guys who rebuilt the box say to do a "pinch test"...
Dumb question, feel free to ignore: I just replaced my stock 0.88 torsion bars on my 63 SF vert with 0.94 new ones. Then...I discovered multiple used t bars for sale here! Is there any advantage to new t bars? Do they wear and distort and lose proper torque? BTW the handling is superb with the...
I looked through all previous threads, which mostly concern loose steering.
On my 63, I have a rebuilt RedHead heavy box, 0.94 bars, and all suspension parts, idler, Pitman etc new, plus disc brakes. The car is transformed with a ride and stiffness that is balanced. But...the power steering has...
Thanks! I shall deliver the box to Red Head in Auburn WA tomorrow. They promise to rebuild to a H spec. Hope it is not too stiff! Steer n Gear would not sell me the thicker reaction springs, and also said that they install tight ball bearings, etc. They were very responsive, as was Red Head.
thanks again i found part number: 1822 134 for all 63 Plymouth Dodge Chrysler Imperial. I assume this is the standard feel. I am still searching for the tighter, maybe police/ HD springs.
