Only these two unfortunately. I picked the premium hide out myself at Global Leather Supply in Santa Ana, CA. Already dyed. But a perfect match for the car and so close to the original color it was amazing. Funny thing is my interior was virtually perfect and didn’t need what I did - it was a...
I don’t think so - still a two man job.
The color is Black Agate Pearl. A deep 3 stage. Believe it or not. I was in process of buying an 2003 Lexus back in 2003. I bought Pearl white - but they were sporting this new color that looked pretty sharp. I still have the 03 but if you see this other...
I put one on my 68 X back in 71. Owned the car for 48 yrs and always took off and put back on myself. A lot of guys grab thru the scoop. I never once did that for fear of damaging the relatively thin scoop glass. I always lifted from the front corners to sides and put it up on my vinyl top. Put...
Pretty rough looking but it also looks exactly like one off a bird. Thats what I had on my X - came off a 69 Six Pak RR in 71. In that kind of shape maybe $200. It's hard to tell regarding cracks and prior repairs etc. The originals were pretty sturdy and resilient for someone that knew how to...
Ok - I did most of the A12 stuff to my 68 GTX. It was way back when I first got the car - 1972. I loved everything about the GTX just the way it was except it needed a a little more pizazz so first in came the cragars and rwl Goodyears. But I always really loved the A12 look and performance...
I have an original 69 a12 hood on the GTX. It looks very similar except the rise down the center in front of the scoop. Mine has a different configuration. Looks like you have a very nice piece there tho. If you want absolute confirmation you could post it on the a12 forum here on FBBO. Those...
It sure looks like a sweet bee but you don’t know what they don’t know. The mechanics are not really discussed in the bio anyway. I figured it would go for the $75k by now. Seems to be priced fairly good. I’m surprised the 2 nd owner sold it for $60k to SMT. That would have really been the time...
Cool story - thx for sharing. I had 3 brothers in Nam at that time. I’m the one that bought the ride tho. Got hooked on 68 GTX - couldn’t let go. Just sold it about 6 months ago after 48 years. I cloned it with the A12 setup way back in the day. She really screamed. Still does.
Very cool and informative article. Thx for posting. I've always loved the a12 cars - in fact semi-cloned my GTX after one. It's nice to know all the hard facts.
I have the original lift off on my GTX. Have had it for 46 years. Don't/haven't had the problem. Curious - what do you think caused it to sink lime that? I couldn't see any other way to even it out than build it back up with FBBO/resin. Interesting problem.
Wow - I wish I had the experience to do all these recommendations to my six pack myself. Unfortunately I don't. And my carbs are in need of a good tune. I was thinking of Promax which seems to get mentioned on this site a lot. But good info above... I hope.
