Interesting - I’m generally in your same neighborhood. Is nitrogen also good on new or older DDs - I know that’s a rhetorical question - I’d just never heard this before - where do you get it - and how do you apply it?
I think Im missing something. Did the engine blow? Or what is the Diagnosis?
So it additional posts I‘ve now seen it sounds like spun rod bearings … Yes?
You could always do what I did back in the day. I put in a B&M shift kit in my Torqueflight, turning it into a manual shift automatic. In other words while it was the same trans - I had to shift the gears manually to go thru them. There was no auto function. Also shifted thru the gears in...
If this is your first my friend I sympathize. Many/most of us that have had big block 440 BBodies know your pain well. I recently sold the X after 48 years - can you imagine how many starters I changed in all that time? I don’t even know if they had minis back in the day - no matter I/we all...
I always used Lucas Oil in the X - after break in. Had plenty of zinc and I would buy it by the case from Summit. I treated the car like a baby after restoration so I’ve No real value comment on the sustainability of the product. Just read up on different brands and chose that one.
I’ll pile on and say go beat the hell out of the motor you have and just rebuilt. Think about it - it makes zero difference since you dont have the original anyway. Some get hung up on matching numbers but plenty just care about the car as a whole. Ride em cowboy…..
Slow down bucko and take a chill pill - or a few Jack and Cokes - Not intended as a major indictment. I was just curious as stated. I had a member offer - if I could get my X up to Central CA from where I live down South - to put in a new rear main. I couldn't get the car up there but thanked...
I'm kind of wondering why the guy offered so generously offered and then so suddenly pulled the plug. You can still try OC Cars at the number I provided. Good luck
If I recall correctly OC Cars was a Buck Sixty an hour for mechanical work. But that was a couple of years ago. Don't know if that's changed like everything else. A call would tell you everything you need to know in that regard. They'll give you a job quote to.
You might want to check our Orange County Cars - Lake Forest 949-768-3192. They do the whole nine yards on classics. Particularly muscle cars. Strange as it might seem it's difficult to find a decent speed shop in what was once the Mecca of the muscle car world. But I had difficulty with my X...
@Gunner1 - I live In So OC and prior to selling 68 GTX i tried several speed shops in the area - non to my satisfaction. Then was turned on to OC Cars in Lake Forest. Nice shop, knowledgeable friendly people and the best I could find around here. They specialize in classics, muscle cars...
Most of you guys are Mopar smarter than me - but if there’s one thing I knew was the idiosyncrasies of the X. My rear main leaked small amounts for several years after a complete rebuild. The car would sit for lengthy periods and I had that small perpetual leak - yes from the rear main. That’s...
Very tough to find. I thought the guy that made these stopped some time ago due to poor health. I got lucky and bought one from him before they became Unicorns. You probably need to post in every “Want to Buy” that you know of. I don’t know how else you’d get one….. Someone needs to pick this...
I coughed up the coin and bought a Powermaster mini for my 440. Was having starter problems - heat soak issues. Always had fitment difficulties with the headers and full size. The mini I bought was a perfect fit with no issues and is supposedly somewhat immune to heat soak. Plus Powermaster...
Had the same problem with my Mopar Performance covers. It turned out they were not level in that same corner. Had to level them out to finally get a good seal.
You should be able to buy Mopar Performance on Summit. That’s what I bought for mine. Look great but they’re not always a square fit on the heads and Lamar need to be adjusted a little. Mine did as I discovered a leak that I just couldn’t stop. That’s what it was.
