I had the 600 vacuum version on a small block years ago. Daily driver, the carb was really smooth, good throttle response, mpg.
I’d buy one again, but my daily drivers are all EFI now ;)
Bob,
I fill all my vintage cars with ethanol free 92 from a local station. Keeps my carbs and fuel systems happy. For the Shelby, I then add a bottle of the Lucas octane boost. The car has a 20 gallon tank...and since I don’t run it dry, but down to an UN-scientific 1/4 tank before I refill...
Just out of curiosity, what grade is available in your area? I have 2 places that sell 92 eFree. There are others that sell 87 eFree and I like that in the mowers as it doesn’t gum up in the off season.
Here are 2 things I have done in the past:
If the motor runs and the car is roadworthy and the tank has less than 1/3 of the old **** slopping around, I'd fill the tank the rest of the way with fresh gas then drive it until it's empty (preferably like in a few days time).
Or I have drained...
