I look thoroughly through every thread I see pop up with vapor lock issues. My 71' Satellite w/a 440 4 bbl and air grabber hood has me heavily concerned about the issues. I'd like to have everything needed and installed to resolve the issues during reassembly. The more ideas I can implicate to...
I owned a car(non-mopar) that had a torque converter come apart internally once. It happened on my way home from school. It stalled coming to a stop at a stop sign and, after restarting the engine acted exactly as you describe when I put the car in drive(immediately stalled). I thought it had an...
That wont work.
The vapor separator hooked to fuel lines at the fuel pump uses the small line to return a small amount of fuel back constantly to the tank through a return line while the car is running. The vapor canister that hooks to the charcoal canister is the small can bolted under the car...
I'm just glad to see some of the companies that repop these are getting the darn things correct.
Honestly I'd have been pissed if the tubes weren't correct because it definitely would not have worked at all. I have never seen or ever saw the issue discussed about the tube lengths until I saw the...
You peaked my curiosity so did some investigating...
Here's the results.
Straightened a yellow coated paperclip and put a small hook on the end to catch the bottom of the tube.
Next, inserted the clip in the outlet tube and hooked it to the bottom of the tube and marked it with a sharpie...
I got a Goodmark one off Ebay a few weeks ago and it has the correct size return port(I anticipated brazing it up and re-drilling, so it was a pleasant surprise). Don't know if it has the screen inside or the tubes at the correct depths...
Part # GMK213126966, was about $35
It looks nice but...
Guys I may be out to lunch here, but given the circumstances that this occurs(especially the poster that says the leak stops when he removes his cap) its obvious that the vent lines(both!) are under fuel. That leads me to believe that internally, the aftermarket has the ends on the vent lines...
Is your advance sticking in the distibutor?
Warm it up & get it so it wont restart & pop the cap. Jiggle your advance & put the cap back on & see if it starts...
Simple to try... These issues are driving you nuts I'll bet. Stick with it, you'll get it straight.
I had this issue in the past myself & the car would creep past 215 on the temp gauge. After shutdown wouldn't restart without full throttle. After replacing everything coolant related, i investigated timing & found my vacuum advance was sticking.... Just a thaught...
Sounds like timing/ignition...
