Looks great!
Chad, I gota say your a busy guy... Not sure how you find the time to accomplish all you do, but props! I see you even created a rock wall/fence in your spare time this fall...
I wish I had your ambition & perseverance to follow through!
Great job on the car in your "other" free time!
Lol! That back section is what I need. Mine had the same corrosion. Perhaps if I had the front section I could graft it in...
Let me get a good look at mine & see if its worth the fuss at this point as I have it patched up & epoxied. I will pm you to discuss so I dont muddy up your thread...
Nice work.
Out of curiosity, how are the fender mounting areas where they meet on top of the inner fenders? One of my fenders has a rotted spot in the mounting area that has 3 oblong bumps between 2 of the mounting bolts. I've been looking for a patch section(hint) should you decide to scrap any...
Looking good getting down to steel. Fix the bad properly & protect it & you'll be golden. I have 2 sets of doors for my 71. Both of them fit flawlessly everywhere but where the bottom rear of the door meets the quarters. I'm betting the quality from the factory just wasn't that good in that...
Out of curiosity, how are your body lines at the bottom rear of the doors? I had a ton of trouble with that area, on both sides, with several different doors. I thought the doors were the problem and my car had original quarter panels, the bottom rear corner of the door would not tuck into a...
My Goodmark pan fit high in the hump as well, about 1/2"(original x-member). Sides were very nice so drilled through a few 1/4" holes & used bolts & nuts to draw it down before securing the sides. Your doing great work! Keep on plugging away.
Not mine, but here are the spoiler mount locations in the understructure. The bottom pic has the wrong spoiler mounted, I just wanted to show the factory holes.
That stinks!
Hope you are following Drs orders. Your future years will remind you if you dont let things get proper. Hope you get healed up!
Do your plans include a spoiler to the trunk? If so, make sure you get a 71 or early 72 lid if you replace it, as 71 was the only year with the...
Most epoxy primer can be used as a sealer, but not every EP. Refer to the directions of the EP you choose and adhere to the recommendations. Its the only way to be sure your protecting the steel. Its the whole point in using a primer.
Look at things this way, once the earth components are melted...
I cant help with those torque boxes but I believe those floor parts are supposed to be added if the floor goes into an E body for the seats. The seatbelt mounts are in the rear 2 piece floorpan, like these(AMD).
If it were me, I'd stop spraying or brushing that primer and go to the auto paint store and get some epoxy primer. Here's why I am making this suggestion, in 2 parts.
1: I sprayed small parts during the summer months using a 2' x 3' piece of 1/8" sheet metal on a set of horses. Always put...
I have heard the same. Honestly, I'd bet he doesn't have it in stock, as the rest of the repro's seem to have dried up a few years ago here in the states for some reason...
Correct. They are almost always gone or rotted. They're repopped, but I think the only place still listing them is Jim's.
Heres a link to his parts page but you'll have to click on the "SHIELD-VAPOR CANISTER" catagory and it is the rear shield.
