You are doing the right thing. Now is the time to make the body as good as you can so you won't soon be doing bodywork again in the future.
I told @eldubb440 when he did my car that I wanted NO RUST left on my car and that I didn't want rust bleeding through seams in a few years. I even asked...
Wow, are you saying it took two years for you to get parts? I thought we had it bad in the USA with limited stock and shipping delays, but your experience makes me feel fortunate.
Regardless, we would all appreciate seeing your car make progress. Post some pictures and stuff you are working on...
Looks great RC!
How is the space on the sides for headers, etc.? Since you have the revised front suspension, will you change up the inner fenders as well?
Careful rolling that backwards - looks like there could be a tipping point when the wheels are pointing away from the transmission. I had a similar occurrence once with my setup I was rolling around. I thought it was OK but suddenly it toppled and broke both my transmission and my bellhousing...
My 70 Road Runner was damn near perfect after it was restored. A couple of weeks after it was done I drove it across country. Yes, it got dirty, it got dings, and it got paint chips. But I wouldn't trade that trip for the world...
So I fully agree, drive and enjoy them - leave the...
I only have a 400 block that displaces 500 Cubic inches, AND I don't have many miles on it since I tore it apart to address low(er) oil pressure and some potential piston slap. Note that I bought the engine complete with about 5000 miles on it. Great, top notch parts, but I tore it apart due to...
I think undercoating gets a bad rap sometimes. There is no doubt it saved much of the underneath of thee 67 GTX. It has also preserved the floor of my 73 Road Runner too. Besides that, it also quiets down the car as well. If I were to build a dedicated driver car I would probably undercoat it.
Here you are RC being flooded with advice on how to do this (when you perhaps are largely done!), but I'll add my experience too: :luvplace:
My buddies 67 GTX was an undercoated car; really thick in some places. The car was gutted, so we used a weed killer propane torch and directed the flame...
Thank you! But I don't have a car those will work on.
I guess this is what makes the car hobby cool - everyone has different tastes. None of them right or wrong!
... OK, maybe there are some that are flat out wrong...
I'm really digging the styling of the hubcaps. Maybe do like @keepat did and make a set of special rims?
(Haha - easy for me to spend your money...)
There are obviously several ways to do it, but I would think if you did that, it would need to start near the rear wheel - otherwise I think it would look a little goofy because the slope to the wider bumper would be too steep.
Totally get it; I'd hate to destroy something that is clean and in...
One more thing in checking out the car and the bumpers:
Could you cut off the ends of the Satellite rear bumper and graft them to the ends of the Charger bumper? I don't know if the shape of the two is close enough, but that could save some work modifying the quarters.
Just brain storming...
