    Castrol gtx classic on sale

Has anyone tried the Castrol GTX classic oil? I have a 1967 coronet with 318 and typically use Lucas Hot Rod and classic Oil in 10W-40 with zinc. I usually have to order it but would like to have an option I can just pick up locally from my parts stores. In doing research I came across the...

    Successful first cruise, transmission question.

I have those two items installed already as shown on the picture. Purchased them from Summit. My concern is that the rod sits at an angle as viewed from above. I have been driving the car more frequently and it seems ok. I would just like to get the correct rod that has the bend to align it...

    Successful first cruise, transmission question.

Yes I saw it, thank you for that. it explains a lot. I just went out and checked my linkage and it seems like its working as they explain on the video. One thing I noticed is that is still have the original rod which connects to the carburetor stud. Originally my car had a 2 barrel carburetor...

    Successful first cruise, transmission question.

Are the trans throttle lever adjustment and kickdown linkage adjustment referring to the same thing? Or is there a separate adjustment only for the lever where it mounts to the transmission?

    Successful first cruise, transmission question.

Finally had the first successful cruise around town and got plenty of thumbs up. Felt great to finally do this after working on it for a year and two months. It took a while to get used to the 727 transmission with no overdrive. My other vehicle is a 2014 Silverado. My only complain was as I...

    Transmission work

I will be removing the 727 automatic transmission from my coronet in the coming weeks. I accidentally bent the flexplate so I will be replacing that along with the torque converter. It is also leaking so I have ordered the front input shaft seal and o ring, the shift shaft bracket seal...

Brake booster / possible vacuum leak

The bushings were replaced with the brake conversion. Also, the car has been sitting a long time while I have been working on it. I did not really drive it before the conversion and new intake /carburetor.

Brake booster / possible vacuum leak

So far every issue I have brought to this forum has been resolved with everyone’s suggestions. I’m hoping this will be the case again. First, my brakes are not working properly. The pedal will not fully return enough to strike the rod that turns the taillights off. I have to physically pull...

    Coronet tailpipes

Anyone know where I can find the correct tailpipes for a 1967 coronet? I purchased the Flowmaster super 40 exhaust system but that is direct fit for a 1968 and above B body. The fuel tank is different on the 67 and I cannot make the tailpipes I have work. I was able to hang the mufflers and...

    Instrument cluster issues

Here is the image from Hobby Lobby, but you can also get it through Amazon. Comes in three different tip sizes which is great to go from the larger border to small ones around turn signal indicators.

    Instrument cluster issues

I restored my instrument cluster last week and it came out great. Took it all apart and repainted the orange needles as well as a fresh coat of SEM black paint. The best part was I found a liquid chrome marker to repaint the chrome outlines. When I reinstalled it with all new bulbs I was...

    Radio issues, help

WOW... this forum has been a true blessing in the restoration of my car. Thank you to each and every one of you. I found the antenna trim screw underneath the tuner bezel and after adjusting it I began to hear some stations. I found a good classic station and just sat in there to hear the jams.

    Radio issues, help

I did not check if it works before. I began restoring the suspension then steering, then engine and wire harness. I am on to interior now.

    Radio issues, help

I think I have the antennae attached correctly. I ran it through the right fender opening into the hole I saw on the radio. I inserted it into the hole on the right side of the radio. I don’t see any other options for where it could go into the radio. May the antennae is bad?

    Radio issues, help

I replaced the dash speaker on my 67 coronet with a retro sound speaker, which by the way fits great. Wired the green and black wires to the corresponding positive and negative terminal as indicated on the instructions. When I turn the radio on all I hear is static. If I turn the station dial...

    Head gasket options

Not sure if the Safety Gaskets are MLS as well, I will have to check. I did have the heads rebuilt and resurfaced by the machine shop. On the engine block I used razors to remove the old gasket and it cleaned up really well.

    Head gasket options

I will be reinstalling the head gaskets this weekend on my 318 Coronet. My local machine shop sells Safety Gasket brand (HG18-137). I can also pick up a set of Mr Gasket permatorque MLS (8553PT) from the local parts store. Just wondering if anyone has a recommendation as to which may be...

    Replace head gasket. Help.

What is the best method to clean the engine deck in preparation for the new cylinder head gaskets? I recently removed them to have a machine shop inspect and restore if needed. I definitely do not want to damage the block. Thanks everyone!
