I see no provision for change in length of the driveshaft with the suspension travel as with a slip yoke. Seems to me you have to allow for this or there is going to be a problem. My 6.I conversion in my 66 Satellite is still a 727.
Certainly their screw up. Apparently the repair wasn't done right or couldn't actually be fixed.
You need to pull that head and determine the problem with it. I say that it's more than just something that was broken off. That shop needs to replace that head. White smoke isn't bad rings. Water...
There is a member on the forum that has the Holley Sniper dual throttle body system on a 67 Hemi GTX. Apparently he knows the ins and outs of that system.

I agree if you are eventually going toward the 700HP range.
On the V code 70 that I did the plates on the spring hanger side were welded and were never taken off, but the plates on the nut side were not welded.
Don't worry about it IMO, order what you need. Weld it in and forget about the drama. You are making the car what you want, so it's water under the bridge. Many oddball things happened in the day and most cannot be proven.
