So the MK-474 is not available anymore for the common drum brake 2660809 MC. Ordered this Dorman Kit and look at the internal part number. Coincidence? Doubt it.
I have had that problem both front drums I have wanted to use. The 9” I tried 3 shoes and 2 drums to finally get a set that would not rub and get hot and now my 10” on the Coronet I replaced the shoes and it’s doing the same thing. I just think parts for drums are just junk today. I put disks...
Agree with you Jeff, if it was just me driving these cars I have not problem but I am constantly thinking about what bad thing can happen every moment.... the female persuasion in the household (and that is all there is outside of me) thinks about nothing while driving other than what song is on...
My Coronet is power 10” and I am not sure I would be comfortable with the wife or daughters with it in town. You don’t just get on them. They take some real time thinking in a panic situation.

I have Stage III in the Coronet and Stage II in the Duster. Since the Duster was the daughters I felt the III was too stiff in a parking lot. You can barely single hand palm turn the Coronet sitting still. The II in the Duster is still not overly sensitive like stock (Stage I) but you can...
Find a heavy duty funnel at the auto parts store and cut it off so it slips over the end of the bar, barely. Then lube the heck out of it and slide the boot down and over, praying it does not split.
My 2 cents, replace all the front end wear parts (tie rods/ball joints/upper and lower bushings) and do the modern feel (I did stage III in Firm Feel lingo) for my 318 Coronet. It is all the handling and steering feel improvements I needed.
Wore out suspension parts or sloppy gearbox?
I have not seen a lower control arm bushing that was not shot in the ones I have seen with the Coronet, Duster and Dart.
