    My Carburetor journey.

Sorry, not much help from me here as I made a custom bracket and wire to the 727. Though as earlier stated, some edelbrock mopar bracket and pin should fix it.

So QC fails again on a AVS2 this time. It seems that whatever you buy today needs a good check before starting it up. A while ago I got a brand new in box alu 750 Holley that had a lot of shavings in the channels...

A 800 Thermoquad (Super quad) would be awesome as your intake can take a spreadbore carb. Though, lots of time to invest there in finding parts/ a TQ in good condition etc etc The Holley 680 VS would work good and give you even power. The AVS2 650 would work really good, give you a snappy...

    What carb for 440

Ah, yes! I played around a little with my 440 one. That extra air mix screw and three step rods are cool. Didnt test it much sadly as the secondary throttle shaft was cracked. I hope to find a donor shaft someday so that mine can be in top shape.

And which one would that be? The new Eddy vr?

    What carb for 440

Yep, Deja vu. You told me some time ago and I red it all. Some great info there. Thermoquad mods that work.

    What carb for 440

Yes of course, my comment was only about quickfuels. (Squarebores) I run a TQ myself and will never go back to a squarebore carb. Spreadbore is a totally different world and it is amazing.

    What carb for 440

680 better low-end/idle, 780 better top end and so on.

Me? Thanks, I still have problems getting the is/are and were/was correct. :)

Yes, the SD is great but is missing some of the TQs best functions.

    My Carburetor journey.

Yes, mess with the primary to get more up top and you will get a weaker primary. SD note: The SD 625 primary is the same size as the 800 TQ, they tried to open up the secondaries like a three barrel to get more cfm but being restricted by the squarebore pattern they could only reach 625cfm. The...

    My Carburetor journey.

I love the Street Demon, I have installed three of them on my dads cars, one of them being a -70 Cuda 440. And this summer I will install a 625 SD on my sisters -71 Duster. For a smooth - easy to tune idle, bottom end response and mpg you want the SD 625. The 750 will give you more up top, so...

And they are so versatile. Cut off those outer rings and you are up to 1000.

    My Carburetor journey.

With my 850 TQ I got 16.8 mpg (Not opening the secondaries on that test though.... :) ) I did some testing with carb spacers on the holleys, like with four holes, super sucker etc, The super sucker made the top end a little happier. (Barely noticable.) But my engine seemed to like straight...

Read my carburetor journey thread for some real tests. Some results about size were quite surprising.

Just curious, what went wrong with the Street Demon 750?

Proform 67101c install and write up.

Cool thread. The proform bases does have the ported vac.

Ported vacuum advance or manifold. Let's debate!

Sure, I didnt go full MV. But my engine has 23hg at idle so vacuum is not a problem. A worn engine is.
  19. Jonas Nordstrom

Ported vacuum advance or manifold. Let's debate!

Ok, good info. The thing I remember when playing with MV is that my engine is worn so the vacuum is not steady, this made the timing jump around as the vacuum pod did not get a smooth vacuum signal. Im a bit allergic against choppy idle so that really ticked me off against MV. Though if I...

Ported vacuum advance or manifold. Let's debate!

Yes for sure, I only switched ports and tuned the idle screws when trying MV. But my base timing was at 14 and I had not thought about upping the timing to over 26 at idle. So it would be to start over with everything, carb/jets/needles/timing/mec adv/vac pod adv. This is actually a ton of work...
