I got the flexplate and converter from TCI as part of the package, I even have one for sale on this site because they sent me a second one .

    4L80E behind big block Mopar

At one point I bought a bellhousing conversion that consisted of an aluminum ring about 1 1/2" thick that had the GM bolt pattern on tranny side and the Mopar bolt pattern on the other. Basically a pieces of crap as you had the starter on correct side for Mopar but you had to fabricate some type...

    4L80E behind big block Mopar

I did end up with 1 1/2" to 2" clearance all the way around but knew I would want room for mounting shifter, routing shifter cable and not wanting to drop tranny down to get back in. Be careful around gas pedal area, don't get too close there. The small hump I made (drivers side)for plugging in...

    4L80E behind big block Mopar

I had to fabricate another brace going across from each side made of 1/2" plate, welded to the frame rails and then tied them together about 11" behind the original crossmember. This gave me a strong base to bolt the tranny mount onto which I could easily unbolt. I set this up with the tranny...

    4L80E behind big block Mopar

The picture from engine bay shows where I cut out the cross member and had to fabricate my own "loop" to strengthen it over the top of where the 4L80will sit. I made the loop out of 9 5/8" P110 casing, 110,000 # tensile strength material. The hump is about 6 " wider and 5" higher and you can see...

    4L80E behind big block Mopar

I will post a collection of pics when I get to my work computer on Monday. I am in process of getting all the wiring finalized at this point, may be firing her up this weekend. Put a Ron Francis custom harness in to tie in Sniper EFI, digital gauge package and the ECU for the TCI/ 4L80 and have...

    4L80E behind big block Mopar

I've done the 4L80 behind the stroked 383 to 496 that I have in my 69 Coronet. TCI built the 4L80 to handle better than 700 ft lbs, slabbed off the bell housing and bolted a Ried AL to it with correct bolt pattern and the starter on the Chrysler side. This is not an adaptation that is easy as...

    Anyone running a TCI Transmission?

Installed the TPS last week, very easy but did have to build a small frame to handle the TCU and TPI. With my set up there is also a switch panel required or just add 3-4 switches to your dash to control/ turn on the different driving functions already programed into the TCU. Will end up...

from 3 speed auto to overdrive

Mike67....The floor pan and hump DEFINATELY needs to be modified when you swap the GM for the Ried bell housing on the full swap from them! I am hoping all this extra work will be worth it when I finally get her on the road. I posted a pic of the modified hump I did to make it work...still have...

from 3 speed auto to overdrive

TCI takes a pumped up 4L80, chops off bell housing and bolts a Reid aluminum one on that has Mopar BB bolt pattern. Good to 800 Ft/pounds and has 6 speeds. Have one in my 69 Coronet and finishing up the total wiring overhaul now.

    Anyone running a TCI Transmission?

You have to swap a gas pedal out for the TPS....(throttle positioning sensor) I assume?

    Anyone running a TCI Transmission?

I have a 69 Coronet, with a 496 and the TCI 4l80/ 6 speed behind it. Tranny was modified with the Reed bell housing and Mopar bolt pattern. Looking for any guidance in the hook up of computer and any pitfalls that may have come with installation and getting it working correctly. I would love to...

    Building a MILD 383 stroker?

Reading this whole debate/discussion and going through the same questions in my head over my own motor build. As someone on the sidelines, I appreciate everyone's opinions and viewpoints. Plenty of options and the decision always comes back to the owner and what he wants out of the combination...

    Need Some Trans Suggestions

Well I went the TCI route for the 6 speed auto. Holds about 700 tq and they take a GM 4L80E, chop off the bell housing and mate a bullet proof Reid AL bellhousing to it that bolts up to the Mopar engine. A little spendy but has the OD and can hold the hp to turn your street monster into a...

The gear ratio may still be on a separate tag that usually is on one of the case mounting bolts.

    1969 Coronet surgery, transmission transplant....help!

Well fellow FBBO members, I am closing this thread out. Here is the final shots of the new tunnel with POR15 top and bottom(I love that stuff!) First shot is ground and sanded from drivers side, second is with POR15 and a spot left bare if I need to weld tabs for shifter mount and the third is...

    1969 Coronet surgery, transmission transplant....help!

Good point Moper, the hydraulic lines and shift mechanism were two aspects I had to consider. The shift cable bracket attaches to the pan bolts below floorboard level by about 1 1/2" and the hydraulic lines have plenty of room now. I actually offset the hump slightly and gave it extra room for...

    1969 Coronet surgery, transmission transplant....help!

Making headway to anyone that cares... Made the initial cut and did a test fit..1st photo. Second shot is the finished tunnel and the extent I had to open it up to fit the 6 speed, 1 1/2" higher and 5" wider! The last shot is the look from the engine bay prior to final sanding and primer. I will...

    1969 Coronet surgery, transmission transplant....help!

Moving ahead and finally got the guts to do some cutting. I spent days drawing pictures and making sure I had all the cutting wheels and metal to give this a shot. That first cut is nerve racking but after that you say" What the hell, I HAVE to fix it now!" Metal work and fabrication is easy for...

    1969 Coronet surgery, transmission transplant....help!

After a weekend of work, my son and I have the cart built, the aluminum adapter plate cut out and mounted to both Mopar engine and GM 4L80 tranny and the K member sitting in place. Ready to try a test fit pretty soon to get the initial cut-out for the tunnel marked. I am excited because I got so...
