A little confused over battery issues....

Just got the header insulation wrap and waiting for the starter blanket to come in. It will be a PIA to pull starter and headers to get this done but seems like the smart thing to do. Doing it all with car up on jack stands, on my back on garage garage floor. I REALLY miss my 4 post lift!

A little confused over battery issues....

I am upgrading my battery BTW, Going to the biggest I can get and I may have misspoke about cable size to starter. The cable itself (copper wire) is about 3/8" in diameter plus the shielding and what was recommended by the research I did. I know I will be taking starter off when I do header on...

A little confused over battery issues....

Thanks for the advice 64Fury, I am having hopes I can cure this.....I also have #2 cable for power, one size smaller for the ground. The header is only 3/4" away from starter and since this is definitely a heat issue, I will be wrapping the headers as well as an insulator for the starter. I...

A little confused over battery issues....

I do have the wires encased in an insulator sleeve and will try some type of wrap or sleeve on the starter. The engine only has about 150 miles on it, starter is brand new and maybe I can eliminate the problem by wrapping it before I have to replace the starter. Thank you gentlemen, I appreciate...

A little confused over battery issues....

Checked all the contacts again and and they are tight. I do have a jump box I carry BUT...finding and curing the issue will give me more security than knowing I have to take a jump box all the time. I would appreciate any comments on a shield or wrap and what good or bad experience anyone has...

A little confused over battery issues....

I do have engine grounded to chassis, everything was sandblasted before I started this project.... totally clean. I ran ground straps, tranny and engine to frame, after scraping down to bare metal. I will try a heat deflector/ shield on starter first plus run an auxiliary ground straight to...

A little confused over battery issues....

I neglected/ forgot to mention that I have headers with a tight fit and a high torque mini starter. In thinking more about your comment about starter, maybe a need a good heat shield or wrap to deflect and insulate against the heat issues. Any suggestions on the recommendations for insulator...

A little confused over battery issues....

I have a 69 Coronet with a 383 stroked to a 496, with a new wiring system for the entire car. The battery is mounted in the trunk with a heavy cable running forward and through a cutoff switch. My compression ratio is about 11 to 1 and gage reads about 13.7-14 amps while running. She starts fine...

    Which switch is this?

Much rather deal with FBBO/ REAL Mopar members than what Ebay throws at you. Half of the buyer are just looking to make a dime by selling into someone else. I will list it here.

    Which switch is this?

Thanks for the explanation! It worked in car...would anyone want/ need it? I'm getting ready to move and letting all the spare stuff go so I don't have to move it..Another oilfield worker that got released.

    Which switch is this?

Is this the clip you were talking about....it was in bag with the switch( I bagged all)? I appreciate the advice about the parts but as you can see, no part of my dash is original, will never need that switch....someone else might.

    Which switch is this?

Pulled off my 69Coronet and all systems were working but I don't know what this was from? I redid my dash to all modern stuff and parting with all I can to pass on to someone who needs it. Thanks for the help! Mocajava

Time for new harness for my 68 Coronet.

I went with a Ron Francis because they would customize it for all the electrical upgrades I did. Instructions were very clear and all wiring was twice as long as needed and well marked.

    Simple question about trunk switch

Putting my Coronet back together and can't remember what the switch looked like for trunk lite? There is a small mount area on upper drivers side of trunk opening where I removed it. Is it the same switch/plunger as used to activate dome light (door frame mounted)?

    CHANGING MY DASH HARNESS

I bought the new seal gasket kit for wipers from Muscle motors and it even included a butyl rubber ring for sealing shaft against underside of cowl. This was an extra seal piece (according to them) that was not included OEM. Seems to work great and I commend them for the extra.

So i dismantled my wiper motor and...

Wow Aussie, you really dug into that motor! Are you going to completely rebuild it yourself or just fix the minor things you can see? What did you decide to do with the switch issue...look for a more modern three speed or use a two speed and forget it? I bought an after market two speed switch...

ANOTHER wiper motor thread.....and a dummy that needs a little help.

Stanton I am looking at Cole Hersee and decided to just use a two speed switch for now. There offerings include several varieties for dual motors and single motors with two speeds and a park/off. My question is do I need the switch that has off and a PARK control or does the wiper motor have the...
