I ended up getting my 383 stroked to 496 and getting a set of heads from Bruce Toth. Ported and polished, really quality heads from him. Runs VERY strong and everything fit up like a dream.
I THINK I know where it goes but no idea what hooks up to it? Any ideas or better yet schematics? Pretty sure it hangs on upper right side of steering column mounting bracket because it fits the holes but no idea what connects to the underside of it unless it is support for vent/ defrost system?
I am sold on it my self and am saving my "points" with my financial director/AKA wife to order one for my 69 Coronet. Improved reliability, increased HP/TQ and gas mileage are all major high points for me. In their infancy, when the battery was disconnected their computer would lose the stored...
That is a small container that mounts under hood against fenderwell or wherever that you take the fuel line from your tank pump into(7 PSI, I think). There is a high pressure fuel pump built into that which feeds the throttle body at the correct PSI. This set up eliminates the need for a HP pump...
I wish you lived close to me, YOU would be putting this on for me! I am sold on them but interested in the comment about the fuel module. I put one of the EFI pumps in a 55 Belair to go along with an LS engine and that was such a hassle. The aspect of avoiding that route is what first drew my...
Talk to Bruce Toth ([email protected]), been porting original as well as AL (just recently) heads for 30 years. He can help with the limits on porting the old stuff, give you a great idea of what you can expect as well as the combinations to get you where you think you want to be. A real...
I am sold on the FITech also and am planning on that for my 383/468 stroker when I get her ready to install. Sounds too simple not to and I too am not a carb tuner. I won't drive in the winter here in AK but the spring and fall can have some pretty cold mornings to warm up a beast. Love hearing...
I also used the US CarTools set and welded them in. The only issue I had was the fit against the floor board left me dealing with an amount of reshaping of the pieces to get the gap down to a manageable dimension. After doing a search and reading all the posts on putting them on, I found some...
Really? For some reason I assumed Moog was not Chinese made and therefore of good quality. Maybe asking an opinion of who the fellow members felt provided good quality components, would be a more appropriate question? Too many variables, I obviously don't know enough about Moog and steering...
Okay fellow members, I thank you and excuse my bitching. I will be going down that road for a new one as well as the rebuild for the rest of the steering components. After reading a lot of posts on this subject of steering, I am pretty sold on using Moog parts to ensure the quality...
I started looking for the replacement kit for all of the steering components. I looking at several types of kits from different manufacturers with different components and called and talked to several "tech" people. I assumed the kits would supply a ball joint that replaces the one in the pitman...
Great thread as I too am leaning that way. Was going to build a big 440 and have the block already to stroke it out. But the economy and condition of the country made me change plans so I don't run out of money before I run out of a JOB. I have decided on building the 383 that is in my Coronet...
I have a set of 906's that I just pulled off my driving 383 that need to find a home. I am just too far away from most of the FBBO members to even try and sell here.
HT413 I have about decided to do just that! Freshen up the 383 with new pistons, good cam, seals, bearings an RPM intake and maybe a set of the Toth heads. Get the CR up to about a 10.1 - 10.5 and have some fun with what I have. I can have the Toth heads done to a stage 2 to be able to swap...
To all that might follow this thread. I sent Mr. Toth a message through FB that I was interested in talking to him. I asked if it would be possible to acquire a set of his heads that would be good on my 383 that is in my Coronet now and could also be used for my 440 when I finally get money to...
