American Racing wheels - hub centric or lug centric?

Modern times. Almost all current aftermarket wheels are made hub centric. Hub rings are normarlly ordered at the time the wheels are ordered. Not something that was available 50 years ago. Were available when I finally left the business in 2008 .

American Racing wheels - hub centric or lug centric?

Most wheel manufacturers ave seperate hub rings available for the different register sizes. The true early racing wheels were splined to the axles and used knock off hubs. Remember those ? Just like pre 70 Mopars l/h on left and r/h on the right.

How I landed on 15 inch repro Road Wheels -- who knew they made them?

Here is a current posting from another website : "Have just installed a DB1302P disk brake kit on my 1970 Challenger, all went well until I tried to mount the Magnum 500 wheels. They start to go on until they hit a 1/16" ridge (see pic). I believe if I can remove it down to 2.75" the wheels...

How I landed on 15 inch repro Road Wheels -- who knew they made them?

Just an FYI . The wheel centers on the 14 " wheels are the same size, whether it is a 14 or 15" outer wheel. I found this out back in the 80's when you didn't have any options to buy/find 15" Ralley's. A local custom wheel seller was making up 15" Ralleys using 14" centers that were lathe cut...

    Lug nuts keep loosening

A couple of things I noticed. The lugs you referenced to on your post #32 is that they sre extnded length lug nuts. With the wheel removed, simply measure the thickness of the wheel through the lug nut hole. Compare this number to the length of the lugnut shank inluding the washer if required...

Good Year Polyglas F70-14 Custom Wide Tread Shortage - What the Heck

The Factory Service Manual will give you the standard and optional sizes. Tires were/are supplied by various manufacturers. They may have leaned towards Goodyear tires because of contracts but they also used Firestone, General, Uni-royal. Only the Monroney sticker will tell for sure what it...

Good Year Polyglas F70-14 Custom Wide Tread Shortage - What the Heck

Remember that these are short run reproductions of basically handmade tires and they have a shelf life based on the DOT date codes. The cost per unit is very high to produce because of the small quantities made. The manufacturers will wait until enough tires are ordered to make production...

    Old Tires

35 years in the tire business. Retired Bridgestone/Firestone store manager. 15 k is the nation wide average and properly maintained premium tires/suspensions will go 60-70 average. Old Tires

An old tire is more important then an old belt. Compare the cost of tires as opposed to the body damage, potential death/injuries. Like Clint said " Do you feel lucky ?" Drive more if you want your money's worth. Tires are only designed to last 6 years average mileage. 15K a year average. 60-70...

Coker FR70-15 Radial Bias Ply Look Redline Tires

Bias ply tires and radial tires have completely different construction. The tires width measurement is not on the tread but a sidewall section measurement. Radial tires by design have the tread area and the sidewall area acting independently from each other. The radial tire maintains tread...

    White sidewall tires

All car manufacturers had multiple suppliers, still do. You can find out the most common but to find out what your particular car came with would require the window sticker from your car. The build sheet would only tell you the size and whether b/w, w/w, or rwl. But not the model or width of a...

    White sidewall tires

The short answer is all different. widths. There was no standard. They varied between brands and models. Info would be on the window sticker ( Munroney sticker) for that exact car.

225/60-15 on all 4?, 215/65-15 better choice for daily driving. Any modern tire will outperform the original tires by many times the suspensions design. 65 series tire will have one more inch of sidewall height to improve ride quality.

    Goodyear F60-15 date code help

A picture of the complete tire helps as well. Most likely 1977. Almost 45 years old. They were too old 30 years ago to be safely used for driving. At that age and condition they should not even be remounted as it would no longer be safe to air the tire up to reseat the beads. They would...
