    66 Charger disc brakes

In terms of minimally invasive changes you can use the stock drum spindles with ‘67 Mustang rotors and 4 piston calipers. That’s what Leeds sells. Goes in easy and works well. Many, including Leeds and Wilwood, use a dual 8” booster. These have a design flaw and will get sticky in a hot engine...

Have a question for those that have swapped a 440 into a 66 charger?

Did this from a 361 to a 440. If the pipes are close to begin with they may be pulled upward into the tranny crossmember. Note that the 440 is wider and higher, about 1/2" per side for each. Fixed it by using 1/2" thick exhaust flanges with gaskets on top and bottom as a spacer.

    Throttle/ kickdown linkage

Just thought of this. The bottom of a Carter / Edelbrock carb isn’t always compatible with the top of an Edelbrock intake. They sell a kit with two gaskets and a metal plate that fixes this. If you have a vacuum leak look at the overlap between the ports on the carb and the shape of the top of...

    Throttle/ kickdown linkage

Could be a lot of things. I’d check the idle mixture first then spray carb cleaner around the base of the carb while running and listen. Sounds mixture / vacuum leak -ish

    Throttle/ kickdown linkage

Just get the locknut free and loose enough to be out of the way. Then tighten the adjuster to 72 in-lb. I wouldn’t fuss about this very much, snug with the 1/4 or 5/16 open end you’ll use will be fine. Then back it out 2 turns. (Other trannys have slightly different number of turns but a ‘64 -...

    Throttle/ kickdown linkage

Both need to be right to get very far so I can’t disagree with this. Do you know what to do with it?

    Throttle/ kickdown linkage

I would do both but the linkage first. Get it so it’s nearly bottomed out at WOT. Then jam the pedal to the floor (engine off) with a 2x4 or whatever you’ve got around and visually confirm the carb is wide open and linkage is nearly bottomed out. Next. With it all adjusted nicely, pop the...

    Throttle/ kickdown linkage

In this first picture I’m showing a 1971 carter AVS and the distance from the throttle shaft to the Cable and linkage attachment point. figuring that the distance required to go from idle to WOT is related to the circumference of the circle it goes on, that 1.2” radius is proportional to that...

    Throttle/ kickdown linkage

A common problem, even when the bracket is “correct” is the the distance from the centerline of the throttle shaft to the attachment point is different on the new carbs than the factory carbs. The old radius was 1.125”, typical Holley replacements are 1.5, not unlikely the Edelbrock is too. That...

    disk brake conversion recommendation

Yeah, I’d only do the fronts if this will be regular usage where you just want to stop better. 4 wheel disc on new cars isn’t a bad idea where the wheel bearings were designed for it and often the level of expected performance is high. I believe all the rear disc options for the old mopars...

    disk brake conversion recommendation

I did the Leed brake conversion kit. Pretty nice. Doesn’t go into a ‘64 the same as the later years but still worked. In a ‘66 it should be really smooth. Stops my Sport Fury appropriately so it’s not scary. Those drums sucked. However you do it you should make sure you know what the components...
