That is normal on a post frame/pole barn style building. Frame it and pour the floor. Can pour before or after steel in put on the outside. Faster and cheaper for large buildings.

This is the outdoor pad we did for our corn crib gazebo. Dye in the truck and then 2 different colored release powders before stamping then pressure washed when dried. A sealer was sprayed on after this pic was taken. That really brings out the color.

I just picked uo a new bottle for mine. I asked if it was cheaper to lease a small tank. He said no. Same price for lease no matter the size of the bottle so i got another big one. Check on the lease prices on the tanks. 75/25 here too.

I waited and saved and worked my tail off to buy a really good welder. Not trying to put anyone down for not being able to afford a bigger welder.
Personally i would check out the welding supply places in your area. Pay good money for a good machine. Take good care of it and it will always be worth the money you paid for it. I believe i could sell mine for more than i have in it. Ask about demo models...
The newer furnaced dont have a pilot light burning all the time and the burner uses outside air drawn in and vented to the outdoors.
To the OP- check the condition of the plenum to make sure its not cracked. I think you have a good plan with the backup heat source and the option to add AC later.
