Ok originally it sounded like you were using some type of distributor spacer not a Valve cover spacer for Rocker clearance.. Can you post a pic of where it is actually hitting?
First off it's a 1 year only part so it's not easily available. The switches are disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and rewired. The metal pieces are also replated. So if you charge $75hr for services that is only about 2hrs or less plus materials.
I had this situation with our boat. Turns out it was the radio it was always on with a pinkish light. It was wired that way from the guy before me… I never used it as I have SiriusXM and used a Bluetooth speaker…But it would drain a deep cycle battery in a little over a week.
The chrome bezel needs to be removed to get to the pin. I just posted some 69 ignition switches so here is a pic of the pin that needs pushed in to release it.
From what I understand the newer ECU from Mopar are junk. The old ones that are new bring big bucks these days as they are Dependable. Can't beat MSD as long as it's not a Chinese knock-off...

You are running the newer voltage regulator as you can't use the stock one you had... Electronic ignition needs more voltage and it why it needs upgraded.
I would not “rewire” it. I would buy the correct harnesses. All you have to do then is unplug at the firewall. One thing you need to check though since you have an interlock system under the hood my guess someone swapped a 74 harness along with the maybe even the dash wiring. Was your 72 a...
It's obviously not the right wiring harness as a '72 would not have had it as it was not even used yet.. I would buy new correct harnesses for under the hood since it seems you want to clean up under hood items...
