That is a generic thick one, it can rub your aircleaner if it sits up high. Now they sell a molded hood pad which is closer to factory and not as thick.
Always body color. If it was black it was re-painted.
Keep in mind batteries commonly spilled acid back in th day and the trays led a hard life so it may have been replaced.
Start by cleaning the dirt from the edges of the clips, a wet toothbrush works great.
The trim goes on the clips at an angle. Don't go straight down on the clip, you will bend the edge of the trim or break the clips.

Rockers are thick and galvanized. I've seen them pitted but still quite strong. The sheetmetal over the rockers gets rust damaged and eaten up much easier.
You have to drill the underside of a 1966 hood for GTX scoops. 1967 has access holes stamped at factory, even on 4 doors and wagons.
As for the corners maybe someone who owns both a 1966 and 1967 can check this out and let us know.
