Sounds like you need to have the carb rebuilt. Sitting like it did can always cause carb issues of some sort, things dry out.

If he has a slight air leak on the suction side the fuel may be draining back to the tank which would explain why it takes so long to get it started.

There is an adapter that attaches to your carburetor, it’s available from Edelbrock on Summit.

Its probably the original pull off..when I bought the car the PO told me the carb "probably" would need rebuilt because it took forever to start...found that the choke was bad. Replaced the choke and it starts right up now but after a moment or two it starts to load up.....found a bad pull off...

Thanks for the help, as soon as I started the car and checked the pull off I knew it was toast.

The engine is loading up after starting and I feel that the choke pull off needs adjusted or replaced.

I think its the 1407 (?) series. I have a 660 cfm that I will be removing shortly and replacing it with a 750, both are the Carter Competition units.
