Thanks for the helpful reply. I am hoping that my 440 will have enough power to combat the AC system working. I agree about the pulleys and brackets. It can be very challenging to source all of those pieces separately.
Nice! I did not know that vintage air made a system for our 71 Chargers. Good to know if I ever decide on aftermarket in the future. Thanks for the reply.
Sounds like an impressive car you got there. I wish I could go all aftermarket, but I do not have the budget for it. Good to know that you think AC's are a must for a hot environment. Thank you
Thanks for your comment. You offer some very good points. I plan on going with a heavy duty radiator. My uncle says the same thing about AC systems being too much clutter.
Great to hear that a 440 will not care about the AC system too much. Yeah I get what you are saying with repairs. I plan on doing those things. Thank you.
Thank you for the comment. Good to know that you will be using AC as well. I like the modern systems, as they perform better and save weight, but they are expensive.
Thanks for letting me know your thoughts. Very helpful stuff. I do not intend to drag race. A modern system, while nice, is too much money for me right now.
Hello everyone,
I am looking at buying a complete AC system for my car. An original one meant for big block cars. All of the pulleys and brackets are included.
Before I decide to buy it or not, I figured I would ask FBBO for y’all’s opinions.
What are the pros and cons of having an old AC...
Looks great! I like the look of the Speed Cooling radiator. It almost has a stock look to it. Thanks for the picture. Nice to hear that it keeps your hemi cool in that Arizona heat!

Looks great Jeff! Thanks for your comment. These 22" radiators seem to do the job of cooling a big block well. Thanks for the specs. I will look into Engineered Cooling Products and their radiators.
Okay that's great. I will keep these specs in mind. I am sorry that your car does not want to cooperate with electric fans, but I am glad to hear that you found a setup that works for you. Thank you for your help.
You are right. Good point. I live in the central valley. Typically, it does not get past 110. Very rarely past 108. Is that enough to make a difference? Thanks
