How much break in oil do I need for a 440?

A friend had nothing but blown engines using Gibbs oil and burning E100. Contqcted Gibbs and they said it was a known problem and were working on it. They then on a later date said it was fixed so tried it again. Same problem. Switched back to Rotella/Red Line/Royal Purple and no more problems...

What will wake up a 400 engine?

An Edelbrock more tuneable than a Holley? Okay. Back in about 1980 I had a 72 Polara Pursuit with the 400. At 30 mph it would jump sideways if ya floored it. I couldn't keep rear tires on it. Or gas in the tank.

    TF500A????

Not quite. The early models were A500/518, as in my 92 Dakota. The RH came later and people incorrectly refer to them as 42/46 RH. This is just like calling a 62-64 intermediate a B body. That designation didnt come along until 65.

    Safe Manual Shifting a 727

In the owner's manual it states to downshift on a steep downhill grade to hold speed and save on the brakes and to downshift going uphill to maintain speed on a steep upgrade. Sounds to me Chrysler said it is okay to downshift while moving. And, as earlier posted, if downshifting want safe they...

    273/904 value?

Bob...I should have said LA 318 but looking at the pic you can see it's an LA so it could be a 318 since the car is a 67 model. And, if I'm not mistaken the 273 was used in the A bodies while the 318 went in Bs and Cs.

    Reliability of Hydraulic Rollers

Another reason(s) the semi hemi had lifter problems was Chrysler specified the wrong oil viscosity and along with extended oil change intervals. The MDS system uses different lifters on the cylinders that cut out. Those are usually the lifters that fail. Ford and chebby have the same problems...

It could be a 318 as 67 was the first year for the 318.

    Reliability of Hydraulic Rollers

Must be pretty reliable. Most pushrod engines built now use hydraulic rollers. Ma Mopar has been using them since the 80s.
