A friend had nothing but blown engines using Gibbs oil and burning E100.
Contqcted Gibbs and they said it was a known problem and were working on it. They then on a later date said it was fixed so tried it again. Same problem.
Switched back to Rotella/Red Line/Royal Purple and no more problems...

Not quite. The early models were A500/518, as in my 92 Dakota. The RH came later and people incorrectly refer to them as 42/46 RH.
This is just like calling a 62-64 intermediate a B body. That designation didnt come along until 65.
In the owner's manual it states to downshift on a steep downhill grade to hold speed and save on the brakes and to downshift going uphill to maintain speed on a steep upgrade.
Sounds to me Chrysler said it is okay to downshift while moving.

Bob...I should have said LA 318 but looking at the pic you can see it's an LA so it could be a 318 since the car is a 67 model.
And, if I'm not mistaken the 273 was used in the A bodies while the 318 went in Bs and Cs.
Another reason(s) the semi hemi had lifter problems was Chrysler specified the wrong oil viscosity and along with extended oil change intervals. The MDS system uses different lifters on the cylinders that cut out. Those are usually the lifters that fail. Ford and chebby have the same problems...
