To tint, or not to tint, that is the question

You got a dark grey truck. I'm questioning how much difference a tinted windshield would make. If you want cooler paint it white. That will make a big difference. I've got identical cars. One yellow with beige interior. One brown with black interior. There is a big difference.

I'm really afraid of what cranium is going to post. (But also already laughing.)

    Windshield Installation

Since it's a hot topic. 777 can be removed with mineral spirts after firming up. It can also be smeared after 48 hours. Similar to a bubble gum consistency. Just a quick test. Between the 2 CRL products that is the one I would use for a new install in the type I have under consideration. (Post...

    Windshield Installation

7708 Would work maybe. But not the same characteristics all. Will never firm up like 8509. See my post above. It's very messy. But get a tube and see for yourselves. It's not that much.

    Windshield Installation

Is it same same as previous years for the models? Place rubber in body then insert glass in rubber? I don't think you want to use urethane. That will glue the rubber in place. Although I have used that on some A bodies in the past. I have since been able to remove and replace the glass with out...

Sherman quarter panels for 70 Road Runner

The way things are going i'm afraid none will be in business.

Sherman quarter panels for 70 Road Runner

I suspect the OP is asking because AMD is not available? Is Sherman even available? I'm doing my first extensive B body and I have to agree with the above unless there is some overriding reason to change the whole quarter. It may be the better plan to use these. When you can get them? 1966-74 A...

just a little off the back and sides please

Great. Thanks. Thread might be a nice sticky? I'll (and others?) need to know where the clips go on the new Dutchman. I've done cowl tops and they have indentations for the clips.

I don't think anyone knows.:) They all are gone.

just a little off the back and sides please

Everything looks good on the patches. I figured if they line up with the Dutchman it should be good assuming the AMD patch is accurate. The head scratcher is the fillers that go under the corners. Mine were rusted gone except for what remained trapped by the frame. Are they supposed to...

just a little off the back and sides please

I have an AMD full trunk pan and figure I will pull the tail light frames to get it in. Full skins are planned too from Year One. How do you handle this patch? The patches are lined up top side with the frame to original height, but do I pull them down to the level of the new Dutchman? (Circled)...

    AMD Rear Glass Patches

Does anyone have some pictures of what this looks like from the underside on an original car? Right is tacked in . Left for ref. I feel sure the factory only spot welded the filler to quarter skin in the glass channel. This aft part probably just "floated"? The gap between the filler and the...

Quarter panel to trunk gutter patches. Are they available?

Or should I say were they ever available with "the troubles" now? Specifically, the flange on the quarter panel that connects to the upper trunk gutter. The trunk gutter is reproduced but has anyone found the flange available as a patch to complete a rusty gutter repair? It would attach the...

    AMD Rear Glass Patches

Thank you for the help. Very nice car and pictures. In different circumstances I would have replaced the entire quarters. It's not a question of money alone but one of the current supply issues, preservation and that I'm running out of time on this my last project car.

    AMD Rear Glass Patches

Thanks. To be clear the RED circled tab end of the piece goes on top of the lower frame and the white circled area goes UNDER the quarter panel during assembly? There appears to be some of the original piece under the quarter panel flange. (With white arrows.) Left top piece happens to be laying...

    AMD Rear Glass Patches

Edited original post for simplicity. The external pieces don't seem to fit but after I remove the original metal they might be better. These inner pieces don't seem to be in existence anymore on either side if they ever were there. Perhaps a stupid question but are they an original part? They...

    Coating for inside the trunk....

It sounds like you may do other work in the trunk and don't want a thick coating?i On a project cars if I have an area I don't clean the rust off, or if I can't clean it, I've had good results with this keeping the rust from coming back. I'm just not a fan of "coating" anyway. I've sprayed it in...

    69 antenna bezel

I'm not sure offhand. Someone may know. I would have to look at some cars tomorrow. But that one on the left with the little lip that sticks "up" looks like it may be for a 67? Based on the pictures I have on my laptop either the middle or the right one may be correct for 69 like in your avatar...

Body advice from those who have taken their car to a shop

Just was a quick cut and paste from a draft I had, with some editing. I'm was thinking, based on my case, that a body shop would want you to sign something. My case was a fight. That was the reason I cut and pasted some of the items relevant to my car which was completely different than your...

Body advice from those who have taken their car to a shop

    1. I have zero experience with body shops other than a wreck which was not my fault. Ended up putting a quarter patch in myself. 2. In the state torn down and "stripped" condition on your car it looks to me like they should be able to give you a fairly accurate estimate. What's not to be seen...
