    dash cap

Be cautious about those repo dash pads. The one (s) I bought for the 67 Charger were too short. In other words the end studs and downward curved ends would not reach the holes in the frame. On the second one they sent I was able to heat the vinyl and bend it enough to get it to work. As far as I...

    Spark plugs which type?

Many variables, but if you are running a basic stock 318. (This one has 360 heads. Cop motor). My daily driver. Almost 80 miles a day 5 days a week for 15 years and across country twice before that. Two nights ago it started running rough on the way home from work. What I found. This is the...

    Hose Nipple Removal

If you can get "original" ones out without "damaging" them I'd be surprised. What kind of damage are we talking about? Well, maybe lots of heat someway but you still are going to have to grip them unless that slot at the top works.

can't remove old rod from master cylinder

My way. Leave the master cylinder attached to the firewall. Go inside and jerk the peddle toward you. That rubber bushing is stuck in the bore.

73 440 charger fuseable link blows after start any thoughts

Hum. New engine side. I'm thinking that link should go to the battery positive via a connection at your starter relay. Once the car starts it is supposed to be feeding charging current to the battery. Check that first.

    Anyone from MD?

Had a guy at work years ago. He bought storage units. We could always tell when he got one. His van and landscape trailer would show up in the hanger parking lot full of stuff. Funny.

Oil and filter quality and brands

I'm lazy. Is there some way to find out what zinc ppm is in these oils in question now without a lot of work? I skimmed the article and I see a few API codes from 2006 and before. API Oil Designation/Brand Year Zinc Phosphorous SH 1996 0.130 0.120 SJ & SL 2001-04 0.110 0.100 SM 2005 0.087...

Oil and filter quality and brands

I wrote that very badly. I meant that oil rated for diesels has too much detergent. I guess that is possible. Can't remember the exact reasons but it would at least be sacrificing oil for detergent. Not good. And I meant that racing oils have no or not enough detergent to keep particles in...

Oil and filter quality and brands

Rotella? For diesels? I read that while that does have "zinc" the detergent content is not right for gas engines. That's on the internet somewhere. Like "racing" oils. They have "zinc" but not enough detergent to keep the contaminates in suspension for the oil filter to work. And I just read...

Oil and filter quality and brands

What? The zinc stuff? That's just my interpretation about what I've read. Yea, I've heard about needing to start engines to keep seals "from drying out". IDK about that. So if you have a car that sits that might be necessary. I can tell you that between 150 and 200 on my 86 318 and no leaks yet...

Oil and filter quality and brands

Oh boy. An "oil thread". Mobile 1 full synthetic with STP for zinc is what I run in two LA 318s. And a Mobile 1 filter It's easy to get at any store. I'm guessing the zinc is just for extra precaution. I've not only done a lot of reading, I've got a 1986 318 that I ran for years with just...
