Are you priming with a drill or cranking it? Counter clockwise with the drill, it should cinch up tight pretty quickly once the pump gets a prime.

I like Permatex #2 on any bolt that threads into a oil or coolant area. It's non harding and will keep the liquid from wicking out.

New mounts are hit or miss. I used the mitymounts on my 71 and NOS for my 74.
