All disc brake B bodies from that era were power brakes. In '70 there was a B body master cylinder listed for manual disc brakes for a taxi cab configuration.
It was a standard disc brake master cylinder with outlets on the left side (toward the fender) but with a push rod.
Though the standard...
It should, the differences are mainly in bore size. The original ones in '67 have 1-1/8" bore size. The ones from the 70s were a slightly different bore size, 1-1/32".
Pedal force might be a little different but will still stop the car fine.
This one is actually the one you need. I am not sure why they don't have it listed for disc drum B bodies, I just found their listings for it for C bodies, but it is the aftermarket equivalent of the 1967 B body disc drum MC.
If your car is an original disc brake car, that looks to be the correct master cylinder.
No aftermarket replacement is on the market now. For a time in the early 2000s someone was selling one but I haven’t seen it advertised for some time.
There is an equivalent master cylinder available...
That is a common problem. Perhaps you can find a new seal for the mc lid you have?
Clean up the top surface of the MC casting too.
Sadly I just looked online to find the correct MC to recommend to you and don’t find it. I see the disc MC but no all drum. It must be discontinued.
I used to work...
That is the OEM style master cylinder for 67-70 drum brake Mopars.
Will it fit and function on your ‘71? Most likely yes.
But why not find a correct style ‘71-74 drum brake master cylinder instead? Off the top of my head I believe they were 1-1/32” bore.
2 or 3 years ago I heard through the grapevine that the Raybestos MK551 kit wasn't available anymore. That kit has 1" seals that are correct for rebuilding the rare 1970 only 2229171 casting disc brake MC for E bodies. I managed to find 2 kits online to stockpile for the day either of my disc...
Are all the MC kits discontinued now? Sucks if that is the case!
Someone contacted me not long ago searching for one, since I used to be an engineer at the company that makes Raybestos.
My advice was why not buy a MC36283 master cylinder and pirate the piston assemblies out of it to use to...
Yes it is. I studied Mopar master cylinders and wrote an article about them for Mopar Action in 2005.
Those tags started appearing around 1971 from what I can tell. The 1176 is the last 4 numbers of the Chrysler part number.
I’ve seen tags on 67-69 disc brake MCs too, but those just had the...
This listing is an original 4 wheel drum master cylinder. Someone makes an aftermarket version with a bolt on cap, but the cap has the incorrect appearance. PG classics sells a repro cap assembly that can be used to make the aftermarket one look pretty close to OEM...
