Cracks in circuitry can sometimes be impossible to see with the naked eye. Other times they stuck out like a sore thumb! As mentioned use a multi meter for continuity first then if all checks out, then you can check that everything is getting what it needs.

If bulkhead cleanup doesn't do the trick, I'd go get a new temp sending unit. I just replaced the gauges in my car and went aftermarket, had to use their temp sending unit. Maybe in the past the temp unit wasn't right for your newer setup? They're under 20 bucks usually.
Welcome TxDon! You're right about the 70's and muscle cars being cheap. I paid $800 for a 69 charger 426 hemi. Motor was hurt but still. No I didn't keep it! Im a DA!

I used to have an edelbrock performer but I recently replaced the intake (again) on my 383. I used the TM6, which I believe is similar in height to to the torker. Also using With a holley 4150 and a mopar air cleaner. Fits fine under the hood of my 69 charger just fine. Hope this can help.
Been there too, a long time ago. I went and got the car back just a couple of days before the guy closed his shop and left town for good. I haven't seen the guy in over 20 years! But at least I had my car. I did get it finished and then sold it.
