I had a 509 in my 72 charger...it ran 12.5s at the track with ported 906 heads a 430 gear and holley 800 double pumper with holley sreet dominator intake. It was fun at the track but sucked on the street.. low vacuum hard to jet properly and just a dirty cam(imo). I just switched to an...
I have a set of 906 that they said they "safely " milled ....I ovaled my intake holes per there instructions and against my better judgment...still is not rite. These were done by the son of a very very reputable outfit in the northren Detroit aera . His father did another set years ago and...
I had there 277/284 x 513/533....I didn't care for it. It didn't make the power the 509 made and was noisier than hell. It did have better vacuum than the 509 and ran a bit cleaner. But I sure missed the power
I always soaked and pumped new lifters...this last time I actually read the instructions and they said not to soak or pump and I didnt....It took what seemed like forever to stop ticking, but I wonder if the less pressure on the new cam may helped it break in???
All I can tell you is I went from a 292 509 to a grind close to yours and had nothing but lifter trouble...heads were set up by a well known source (cant think of name) did everything the way I have for years...still not luck....Im going back to something not so straight up straight down...
I had an old Granada ....used to turn off the key while rolling down the road in gear ,pump the crap out of the gas peddel then turn key back on...thats what my muffler did the last time I tried it.
not sure how the new ones perform but...I had an LD340 & holly 600 with fresh heads crane fireball cam (80s) in a 71 Cuda. the car ran good for a 318. Just dont call it a "built" 318...it didnt take long to figure that out for me...LOL
