What winch are you using on your car trailer?

Just remember KD, unless you are of age to be done with draggin barn finds to the house, eventually you will find one ,with one or more, brake drums frozen/locked up. I had rather drag them up on the trailer and fix them at home rather than the muck I usually find them in. I went with a more...

What ultra sonic boiling fluid do y'all like for carbs....

Some of the you tube motorcycles carb guys also do soda blasting on bike carbs and that seems to really make them clean up. I just don't know how far one could go doing some of that on a car carb. Could you get soda into some of the small circuit tubes and canals that the cleaner/cooker might...

What ultra sonic boiling fluid do y'all like for carbs....

Here is the cleaner I purchased. It's a Creworks, 30L, XZ 100. While there seems to many brands out there to choose from, it seems to me the two main choices one needs to make are what size do I want and do you want one with manual controls or digital touchpad controls. With my luck with digital...

What ultra sonic boiling fluid do y'all like for carbs....

Will do Fran, but at this point I am still unsure what to use as I see there are many products to choose from. Watching the motorcycle guys clean bike carbs are only taking about 30 minutes at about 140 degrees. Not sure of the fluid they using but carbs still look somewhat bright coming out...

What ultra sonic boiling fluid do y'all like for carbs....

Guys, finally got an ultra sonic cleaner on the way here, now , for the fluid choice. I opted for one with a heating element to be used basically for carbs. Been doing a few Edelbrock carbs of late and wondering if there is a cleaner that can restore that shiny , bright look that new Edelbrocks...

    2 post lift recommendations?

My first 2 post was an asymmetrical as that was the best I could afford. My last two are Challenger Versa-metricals. If I ever need another one, that is what it would be. Its advantage is you can lift lopsided loads, like a bus, or truck. That's advantageous to me as I can lift my cars offset...

Please School me on A/C Tools

As my old work buddy James use to say: If you want a job done right, HIRE somebody. That was from probably the sorriest employee my company ever hired....lol

Please School me on A/C Tools

Hawk, just remember R 134 is a blend of refrigerants . So, technically , the guru's say when that leaks down the blends ratio changes. The taught rule of thumb is you can shoot more gas in ONE time, and then one needs to pump down and recharge. That is to achieve maximum efficiency. But as...

Please School me on A/C Tools

What Lefty said about not getting a cheap set of gauges. I have an old set of R 12 gauges that was my main set. When the R 134 stuff hit I got a new[cheap] set for that use. They are snap on rather than screw on like R 12 systems. The cheap set NEVER have/did attach and ran true. I finally paid...

New shop build out coming to life

Nice wide steps up to the mezzanine you have, excellent planning. You will appreciate that more and more the older you get. I use my mezzanine to store and layout my parts for my resto projects, a wonderful asset.

What (respirator) Are You Using to Filter Paint Fumes and Pesticides?

As 68 pointed out, I also use the 3Ms sold by my paint jobber. With isocainites no longer being used in most paints I think their toxic level has been greatly reduced. Unless I have a crappy seal, I get no paint/reducer smells with those.

    Love my Super Sawzall but.....

I swapped over to Milwaukee M18 stuff and love it. My cordless sawzall is fantastic when Im running big pvc pipe out and about in the field, don't want to be without it. I have an assortment of different amp hour batteries that I swap around depending upon need. My latest is the disc grinder, I...

Safety Clean/shop wash vat solutions....going to diesel.....?

We used Ashland 140 in our vats. I learned it was a highly refined diesel fuel but had no bad smell, and could handle a LOT of grease/oil before changing. Not sure what it costs per gallon these days....

    Grease gun storage ideas

I keep mine in a tall cardboard box, with the most leakiest end pointing up. I wrap them in a clean rag. And YES, the cardboard box is replaced on a regular basis. Amazon boxes are too thin, keep the thicker ones. As the poster pointed out, wiping, washing, cleaning the guns are a PINTA, I...

Going to a 4 post Advantage lift.

I have two , two post lifts, one outside for my 'dirty"work and one inside for my clean restoration work. But looking to get my first 4 post soon. As Chargervert has shown us , having the ability to put two cars in the space of one seems very advantageous to me at this time. Just sold my 72 as...

The Beginnings of My Shop Build

'Concrete work is done", are you holding off on pouring the other side? I assure you, you going want that done, if not now, you will in the future. May I urge you extend your roof and cover all your slab. It will keep your rollup/panel doors from leaking rain water into the shop and you will be...
