The center fins should be dark argent. Some good pics here:
FOR SALE - 1968 GTX grill - nice condition
Just FYI, I tried the 'dark argent' from a few different sources and ended up going with the one from Herb's as it was was noticeably darker than the others, even though they all made similar...
Same here. Ordered a front bumper for a '68 in August. Ship date at the time was Sept 19...then they emailed and said November...I'm sure our new bumpers are sitting on a container ship in Long Beach harbor!
What worries me is if the one I'm waiting on shows up in crappy condition (because AMD)...
Mine's a "G" car too. It's more that the trunk doesn't close quite all the way down, but it goes to show, 60s factory line workers=:fool:
In all seriousness thanks for the input...OP should be squared away now...
Can't help you with stud hole locations but it's 1-3/16" from the bend in the deck lid, to top of the tail panel.
(I burned an inch here)
You could put some marking compound on the stud ends, get it aligned just right and press the panel against the deck lid to get marks for drilling..and...
Try "Nu-Finish". I used to have a red-orange T-Bird.....well I thought it was red-orange....polished it with some of that stuff and discovered the car was really red! An application a couple three times a year kept it looking nice. I'm sure there's others that work good for folks but that's been...
Nice work dude! I like the concept for getting that little bit of extra clearance; not as involved as the 'ol stretch the wheel tub trick, and definitely better than the high-school "just cut a hole in that bulge and leave it" method.:D
Yeah that's their website picture, and that's the brand of paint that's on the right in my sample....in reality much lighter than they show. Maybe mine just got mislabeled...?
Looks like I'll be going with the darker one on the left, it's from Herb's (now AMS Obsolete since Herb...
Thanks guys. The trouble is both paints I have are labled as the "correct" dark argent, but they're clearly different.
Hoping someone that knows the OEM color can help determine which of those two in the pic looks more like the factory shade. The lighter one on the right actually shows a tad bit...
I have two different "dark argent" paints, but one is a bit darker than the other. I took a bunch of pictures and finally settled on the one that looks most true-to-life on the computer screen...My car is not an OE build by any means but since I have two colors I'd rather use the one that's...
Do you really feel that way, or were you just joking around?
I say that because if all you do is put in a wider tub, the tires will still hit the leafs which defeats the purpose...On a '68 if that's what you're working on, the inner wheel house wall and leaf spring are dang near in line with...
Contact ECS and tell them what you need.
If it were me I'd keep the original glass until I was fully content with the new stuff, then I'd put the OEM pieces up for sale.
Oh who am I kidding...I'd most likely stick the old glass up in the garage attic with all the other car crap in there so I...
