Ok so here it is. After working and trying everything even a new orange box. I still had no fire to the plugs. Took a couple of days to think things over. If everyone remembers I blew the top rad, hose off and it soaked everything under the hood. By the bulkhead connector there are two plugs one...
Just got my new orange box. Now after reading more into what wire goes to ground or negative on the coil. I see the black wire with yellow stripe should be on negative of coil. That is the one I put on the positive side. Think might have fried my orange box. Will know more tomorrow. Sure hope...
Been over all these same lines. I did clean the bulkhead connections with contact cleaner. It is strange. Drove the car in the garage before pulling the heads. Had a crack in one of the heads below the exhaust holes. Had to pull both heads to paint my shock towers over again due to paint was...
Recently removed the heads on my 383. Put everything back together and now have no spark. Know I hooked up my tack wire on the positive and moved it back to the negative side of coil. Replaced the coil thinking it might be bad. Showing low voltage at the coil. Tested the ECU and it test right...
I agree hole heartedly with that. But is frustrating to all of us to pay up front for what is supposed to be original cables. Or any other parts we may buy.
Just wanted to chime in on wires. Bought a set of repo wires that were supposed to be as original ones. The car ran fine and had quite a few miles on it with the old starter rebuilt. Headed to a friend's house quite a way away. Stope at a store to get some coffee and it would not start. So, a...
Bummer. Did you get the under-dash wiring also. If not, wrong radio should come from fuse Pannel as Your dash lights. I had to refer back to my old under dash harness many times. I did mark what each wire went to on it. Do you have a wiring Diagram?
Replaced my distributor with a kit from Summit racing. Got wiring and the voltage regulator with it also. Have no problems with it wanting to burn up. Also have electric choke on my carburetor with no issues. One wire alternator or two wire. Nonpoint distributor it is electronic also. Know this...
Mine came out by the E brake or kick panel area. It should be hooked up with the door switch wire if I am not wrong. Can run a fish tape up to the roof area through the kick panel. May have to hook the fish tape with another piece of wire once you see it. Can't remember but thought the wire it...
Do you have the original tank in the car or an aftermarket. My aftermarket tank and sending unit had a problem with reading right. Took the unit out of tank and had to bend it more to the front of the tank and closer to the flat spot there. Problem solved. Now it reads close enough. When pump...
Went through two coils after restoring my runner. They lay horizontal on my motor. Both died on me. Then bought an MSD coil at O Raleys and found out the other ones where not sealed where output to the distributor wire is. They leaked the oil out and burned up. So far so good with the new MSD...
If you are not the original owner, then maybe someone made a tap for something else. If everything works like it should- would tape it up and forget it. :praying: If I understand correctly, it was not attached to anything.
Nothing like chasing the rat down a hole. So many connections to check and I am with you on trying to find a problem in the wiring. I also have a new harness and will say we do the best we can. Then end up with some little problem we have to check almost everything. Hope it will not give you any...
Not getting a good connection or a bad ground like stated. I have the same maker of the new harness also. Mine was acting up also and found that clutch over center spring was moving my wires and corrected that and all is well now. You are going to find it something simple in the end. Best of...
Ho boy it looks like a new box is in order and clean up all the wires coming too it. Heat going through those connectors for all those years will need attention for sure.
