Can anybody explain steering for me?

And here I am, loving the way my manual steering and manual drum brakes take me back to the 60’s/70’s. I love the feel of the road, and the raw, mechanical feel of a beast almost untamed. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Alignment Shop Recommendation Jackson Michigan Area

I’m very familiar with Kovachs, I take Nellas van there regularly, and I’ve taken a few other vehicles there as well. Great people and great service.

Alignment Shop Recommendation Jackson Michigan Area

Reds Frame Shop on M-59 in Hartland, or Harold’s Frame Shop in Novi both have old timers working there rust know old cars. I go to Reds because it’s close to my house, but I’ve been to Harold’s before also.

    K Frame Resto.

I would do as mentioned above and finish those crappy factory welds. Some of them I’ve seen are a mere spark and go, here and there. Clean, finished welds will go a long way towards more stability of the K frame, and a cleaner finished product.

Has anyone had luck with the Ram Man?

Yep, zero people skills. I would rather deal with Mobilparts Craig Studnick, or Dr Diff than anybody else.

    Damaged Frame Rail

I did this… Since only the end of my crossmember was soft, I bought this end cap from Derrick Fettig, a well known seller of western steel. It was $50. Since my front to back subframe and the rest of the crossmember was good, I cut the bad end off, made gussets for inside the frame, cleaned...

1970 steering lock plate- do I need to remove?

Try navigating the reverse key lock deal on the 4 speed cars. I put mine back on, but most people just chuck the whole affair. I think it has the same symptoms, if you get rid of everything, you still may have to turn the collar to disengage the key from the switch. Yes, let’s complicate matters...

    Torsion bar identification...

I might suspect the preload clocking on the torsion bar as a possible cause for the limited adjustment. If they’ve ever been out for a front end bushing rebuild, they could’ve been put back in without enough preload.

    Torsion bar identification...

On all part numbered pairs such as torsion bars, leaf springs and such, the even numbered part always goes on the passenger side.

"You need to do the whole front end."

I remember when we bought Nellas car, the owner told us we should not drive it, it was a death trap, there’s something wrong with the front end. Put it up and got under it, everything was nice and tight, no problems. Then it came to me, even tho he was the original owner, he hadn’t driven it in...

    I don't want HOSED!!!!

You can get hydraulic hoses made by just about any mobile hose maker that services the trucking industry. They have a truck load of fittings and hose, and pop them out right on site.

    Brake line routing

If you’re doing a new brake line, I think you’re going to find out that it doesn’t hug as tight to the frame as the originals did, and it’s a cleaner installation if the fuel lines go under the brake line at that junction. That was my most recent experience.
