I would do as mentioned above and finish those crappy factory welds. Some of them I’ve seen are a mere spark and go, here and there. Clean, finished welds will go a long way towards more stability of the K frame, and a cleaner finished product.

Try navigating the reverse key lock deal on the 4 speed cars. I put mine back on, but most people just chuck the whole affair. I think it has the same symptoms, if you get rid of everything, you still may have to turn the collar to disengage the key from the switch. Yes, let’s complicate matters...
I might suspect the preload clocking on the torsion bar as a possible cause for the limited adjustment. If they’ve ever been out for a front end bushing rebuild, they could’ve been put back in without enough preload.

You can get hydraulic hoses made by just about any mobile hose maker that services the trucking industry. They have a truck load of fittings and hose, and pop them out right on site.
If you’re doing a new brake line, I think you’re going to find out that it doesn’t hug as tight to the frame as the originals did, and it’s a cleaner installation if the fuel lines go under the brake line at that junction. That was my most recent experience.
