    Sanding clear coat

Cranky, we like the Meguairs Solo liquid with there recommended pad. We usually use 1k then 2k wet sand, then a quick buff/polish with the solo. You Black will really pop.

    Single Stage or BC/CC

What I have seen on the BC/CC jobs after your 3 or 4 coats of clear ( like 66-b suggested), we let clear sit for a week or so. We wet sand 1st with 1200 grit then move on to 2000. This will get the clear really flat and ready for buffing. The orange peel will be gone and the finish will look...

    Single Stage or BC/CC

Hi 5.7, since your car is not a restoration i would go with a god quality BC/CC paint job. Most of the old factory paint jobs look sort of morbid on these cars. With everybody so used to perfect gaps and great finishes as seen on late model cars and trucks BC/CC is the ticket. You can get a...

Propwash has it right on for the flux core wire, don’t use it. We use the Argon premix with 25% co2. Also the panel adhesive will save a lot of welding and grinding. We just put 2 new full AMD quarters on a 70 RR with great results. We did have to trim them around the drip rail intersection on...

    primers?

What we do if were trying to get a really straight car after stripping (and repair) is spray a product called Reface on the bare metal. It’s like a spray able body filler and goes on thick not like regular primer. Typically 3 coats of this stuff. It may seem like a lot of thickness at first but...

    Door Hinge Pins?

yes, 66 B Body has got it on the head. I think the last kit I used had .382" Dia bronze bushings. I used a .381" dia. drill to open the hole and they work great. Just mic the O.D. of the new bushing when you get the kit. I used the same kit as 66 B. Good luck.

Ok body guys...here's the game plan

I am still learning all the time. My friend Lee is an Expert body guy and hes got some tricks I can't beleve. Anybody can paint but its the prep and blocking, hours and hours of blocking. And then you block some more. Its all good, but a hell of a lot of work.

Ok body guys...here's the game plan

You can hang the doors, fenders, hood & trunk get them all in base. We use wire and hang them from the rafters. 330 everything & Shoot your clear while there hanging. Store them some place and base and clear the shell while everything is off. Then its the fun of wet sanding and buffing. When...

Ok body guys...here's the game plan

Car is really taking great shape. Now that your done blocking and priming and have all your gaps set, Are you going to disassemble all of the removeable panels before putting them into color? It is a pain, but I believe the final product comes out better. After they are in base and cleared you...

    Structural Panel Adhesive

At my friends shop they use the 3m two part epoxy for all types work on late model stuff. I also seen it used on vintage mopars. I have seen it used to hang bed sides on pickups without issues. However there is a lot of prefitting & prep work before they are hung. Also on several spots on the...

for once I've got a question

Hey Runner, you might want to try a heat gun. But be careful not to overheat the plastic. You could also try to cut the edge with an ex-acto knife, pop out the lights and try to clean the remaining material with acetone. dependent on your paint i belive you can find a solvent to help clean the...
