Two factor to consider. 1. Yoke side to match u-joints. 2. 8.75 will require a shorter drive shaft. Old unit may fit but will jam your transmission because the drive shaft must allow for rear end movement up and down during normal driving.

Friend of mine installed one in a 70 cuda with a HP 440. No problems with HP or Torque. The gears ratio drops result in a reduction in acceleration. The front yoke will required modification to fit the big block bell housing. Remove and take it to a machine shop for resizing. Good luck
