Safety Clean/shop wash vat solutions....going to diesel.....?

I use brake cleaner for most things. It is the non chlorinated type from Rural King. If it's bigger, and grubbier, I use the Tractor Supply stuff in my parts cleaner. Purple stuff is good, but I tried it in my parts washer, and it foamed up.

    Garage/Shop floor Coating

I thought about epoxy for my garage, but I knew that I would be cutting, welding, jack stands, jacks, etc. So I went with a white concrete stain. It does get beat up, and is easy to re coat. But, you can't put it over anything with grease, or oil.

Metal vs Wood Garage ? What would u do?

Depending on how big your garage is, use roll up doors. That gives clearance for when you have a car on the list.

Whats everybody using in there solvent tank

I have an old Safety Clean parts washer. I was using kerosene. This thread got me looking for alternatives. I drained the parts washer, and after scrubbing, I noticed a pin hole in the bottom. After even more cleaning, I found more pin holes. I had to cut the whole bottom out, and welded a...

Pneumatic Ratchets - Price vs Quality

Even though I have a big compressor, i prefer battery powered tools. No air hose to drag around. I'm not too big on Craftsman tools. The quality has taken a nose dive. Spend a little more, and get something worth having.

We need to talk about Garage safety!

And when welding, I get chest pains from inhaling the fumes. I wear a respirator whenever I weld now.

Does anyone use air ratchets anymore?

I rarely use my air ratchet. It's loud, lacks torque, and can be awkward with the air hose. I have Craftsman 18v lithium batteries for my drill, 3/8, and 1/2 drive impacts. I have 5 batteries, and a charger. Due to medical issues, I find they work great most of the time. If they won't do the...

    Tunes for the shop/garage

I just use satellite radio. I turn it on, and listen. I still buy CDs. I want something in my hand for my money. Take it out of it's case, put it in the stereo, and play it. No ripping, downloading to the computer, uploading to my phone. Also, i don't like the idea of paying for one song at a...

Ok Guys and Girls my car lift will be delivered at my house next week and I can finally get started

If this is a 2 post, make sure you consider where you want it. Mine is in the last bay, and I had to make sure it was in line with the bay door. And room on the side near the wall to walk past the lift, and room to open the car door.

    Shop floor coatings/treatments?

I just used concrete stain. Applied just like paint. Holds up pretty well. Not crazy expensive. So, when you do damage the finish, just touch it up. Don't have trouble with hot tires lifting the stain if it's cured.

Benpak is out, looking for "American made"

Just wondering if you know you're supposed to have 6 inches of concrete for a lift. Most are poured at 4 inches.

Benpak is out, looking for "American made"

Forgot to mention that the clear floor option really comes into play when your car doesn't run, and you are trying to push the car over that lump on the floor. Also, one less thing to trip over, or collect spilled oil. Do your own research. Salesmen will try to sell you whatever they need to move.

Benpak is out, looking for "American made"

You will appreciate asymmetrical and clear floor if you don't get them. My lift is rated at 10,000 pounds. None of my vehicles come near that. Even with asymmetrical arms, it's hard to get into my 2013 Ram. If you don't get asymmetrical arms, you will need to get an extra wide lift to get into...

Benpak is out, looking for "American made"

At the time I bought my Bend Pak, they were made in China, and assembled in America. No issues in years. IMO, look for the certifications they should have. I think it's ALI. Not sure. Good luck with your choice. The ones you named are good lifts.

    Floor Jack

NO! Absolute junk. Heavy, and takes forever to jack the car up. Very loose build. I save it for a backup. like my HF way better. It's the quick pump up kind.
