I purchased these. They are pricey for what they are, but have made spark plug changes a snap on my 440 with headers.

I ran into a high rpm missfire with my MSD 6 box and pro billet distributor. Using the MSD 8862 shielded cable solved the problem completely. Not sure if the problem you are describing is what I had, but it may be worth a try.

Nice job. I enjoy the process of wiring, but my jobs always end up looking like Ray Charles wired the car at night using only his feet.
I notice you have a fuel pump controller wired in. Just a note....I had one in my car that failed between runs at an NMCA event. Cost me a qualifying run...
Over the weekend, I used the Doty bracket to relocate my alternator to a low mount position and installed an electric water pump. This eliminated the water pump pulley. I currently have a 5.5" crank pulley, and a 2.75" alternator pully. I am now getting no charge out of the alternator...even...
I am running a MSD 6AL box, Pro Billet Distributor, and MSD coil. I also found myself chasing a high RPM miss. What finally solved it for me was changing the trigger wire from the box to the distributor to a shielded cable MSD part number 8862. Once I made this change, the high RPM miss went...
Update...I reinstalled the MSD start retard box (PN 8987) along with the shielded pick up cable (PN 8862). Initial test drive was successful. The high rpm miss that was present with the initial install is gone (without the shielded pick up cable). I have the start retard set at 10*. No issue...
The hot start issues don't happen under normal use....drives around town etc. The issue only occurs at the track (so far). It won't happen after the first couple or runs, maybe after the third run. Last time I was at the track, I had a real hard time getting the car started for the fourth...
Did some reading on the start retard box. Looks like others have experienced the high rpm miss as well. Msd recommends using their shielded pick up cable pn 8862. Any tried this with success?
When I try letting the engine crank prior to turning the ignition on, the motor will spin just fine UNTIL I hit the ignition. At that point, the motor will drag like the battery is dying.
My car is a 64 dodge street/strip car, 512cid, MSD 6AL ignition box, running dual trunk mounted batteries. 10.5:1 compression, timing locked at 35*. The car starts and runs easily when cold. It will also start easily when hot. However, during track events, I run into issues when the car may...
The wealth of knowledge on this site never ceases to amaze me. A quick post of the issue and prompt response from a knowledgeable member resulted in an easy fix to the problem. Thanks so much 451!!!!!
This was the issue. I finally had a chance to get into the garage and checked the phasing. Installed the adjustable rotor and had to move it about 7* to get it lined up. Now the motor is very happy through the RPM range.
Thanks for the advice!!!!!
Rev limiter on the box is set at 8,000. Coil was fine prior to locking out the distributor (I didn't even remove the plug wires from the cap when I took the distributor out, I just removed the cap and layed it off to the side).
Motor is a 512 Stroker, 10.5:1 compression, Edelbrock Victor heads, dual eddy 1407's on a cross ram. Lunati solid flat tappet cam. .600/.600 lift, 276 @ .050. I recently installed a new MSD 6al box, new pro-billet distributor, and new Master Blaster coil. I was not happy with the timing...
Do you have spark at start AND run? When I installed the ready-to-run in my car that was the issue I ran into. I had spark while cranking to start, but as soon as the key went to run...nothing. I needed to do a little re-wiring to make it work and then no problems.
Since I have owned my 69 RR (about a year), it has had a strange periodic glitch. Every once in a while, the car will be completely dead....not even a click with the turn of the key. I can tell when this is happening, because when I open the door, the dome light won't come on. This issue...
