I have never done a mile, but I have done standing 1/2 mile events. These events recorded MPH only, not time. I have done it in two cars. First was a bone stock 2012 Caddy CTS-V. That car did 135mph. The other car was a C6 Corvette modified with a cam, headers, centrifugal supercharger and...
One of the bolt holes in my block (440) is stripped (one of the long ones in the middle). A couple of questions, can this be helicoiled, what size/pitch helical do I need. And most important, does the bolt hole go all the way through to the crank case, or is there a bottom to the hole? I don't...
Quick update on this thread. Since rebuilding the motor last year and upping the compression to 12.7:1, I upgraded the cam. New specs are .683 intake, .668 exhaust. duration at .050 is 274 intake, 282 exhaust. 108 LSA. However, I ran into an issue with my Edelbrock Victor heads and decided to...
New best at Thursday night T&T. DA was 1470.
60' 1.438
330' 4.157
1/8 6.471
mph 105.89
1000 8.491
1/4 10.224
mph 129.53
Only change I made was upping my launch rpm from just off idle to 2500rpm. I don't think that made much difference as I have gone 1.424 60' at a lower launch rpm.
While I don't like the idea of moving away from the Indy 440-25 intake with the dual eddy 750's, will there be a measurable performance gain by switching to a manifold like the Edelbrock Super Victor and single 1000cfm carb? I am trying to maximize the performance of the combo I have.
In an effort to take some weight out of my car, I am considering switching to AGM batteries. I currently have 2 batteries wired in parallel and mounted in the trunk. Can the AGM batteries be wired in the same fashion? I think switching out the two batteries for 2 agm's may save quite a bit of...
Made it to the track for the first time with the new combo. Results are promising. DA was about 1000'.
Run 1 (34* of timing)
10.352 @ 127.26 (1.472 60')
Run 2 (35* of timing)
10.305 @ 127.57 (1.447 60')
Run 3 (36* of timing)
10.253 @ 128.07 (1.424 60')
Machine shop said they got peak power...
Below is the selection of pistons available from 440 source. The 5072 was used in my motor. Edelbrock says a Victor head has a 72cc combustion chamber. The head gasket is a Felpro 1009 with a thickness of .039. That would put compression at 12.7:1. I am borrowing another compression gauge...
I have not seen the dyno sheet yet. I will get that tomorrow when I pick up the motor. Here is a pick of the motor on the dyno that shows the header that were used.
Results are in from the dyno. 653HP/650TQ. I was hoping for a bit more, but this is a good start. My cam may be a bit small now. I do not have all the specs yet. I will be picking the motor up at the shop on Friday. The only change to the motor was pistons to get from 10.5 to 12.5:1...
I just got off the phone with the builder again, the block and heads are fine. The pushrods that are off are too long. He will be checking on the shims that you mentioned to fix the issue.
I have about had it with the rebuild of this engine. The last piece of the puzzle that was required was the pushrods. I received a call that they were delivered to the shop this morning, so I was expecting it to be on the dyno by tomorrow. After lunch, I got a call and was told that the...
