    Speedometer Question on GTX

From Galen's little white book. 69 A<B<C bodies 383-4 and 440. I know in 69 that 383 and 440 used different trans. I'll look in my 69 part manual tonite, I'm just walking out the door to work right now.

    Speedometer Question on GTX

True-but most of the time when transmissions got changed, the speedo gears did not. An example story-I had a buddy years ago, that had a nice 71 GTX. He was hard on cars, he was moving to Springfield MO from Lincoln NE. His transmission went out in Springfield and didn't have time for the trans...

    Speedometer Question on GTX

Yes-there were several different 727's used in any particular year. Let say 1969, 383-2 barrel, 383-4 barrel, 440 standard, like a 440 New Yorker, 440-HiPerf, 440-6Pac, and Hemi all used different part numbers. When automatic cars get messed with, 9 out of 10 times. having improperly adjusted...

    Speedometer Question on GTX

Look up your transmission part number-the left side pan rail, and verify that it has the correct trans. Most likely trans got swapped out years ago for a lesser performance 727 that was in front of a 2.76 rearend.

    Power Steering Belt Flying Off!

That shows the fabric covered belts. There aren't any automotive belts made that way anymore, except for the Quanta restoration belts. All of the belts we use today are ground and cut on a mandrel, called cut-edge belts.

    Power Steering Belt Flying Off!

I know the answer: The belt you describe is an end belt. Belts are built on a steel or aluminum mandrel whatever size the belt is. They are plied up with the rubber coated fabric, layers of rubber and a layer of cord that is wound around the mandrel. After built, it is cured in a big pressure...

    Valve cover gasket explosion:

Back in my younger days I purchased a 73 New Yorker Brougham, 2 dr. Beautiful car, wish I had it yet today. The 440 was gone and the owner had installed a 383 2 bbl. It wasn't completely hooked up. He had told me it could have a hole in a piston. Before I pulled the 383-I thought what the...

    B vs RB valley-pan hold-down bars

Awhile back, I was watching that Power Nation show, they were building a stroked 440. They were buttoning it up and they did not use any of these straps. Must have been a Chevy mechanic!

    Cruise Control Conundrum

That cruise control lever is a 74 up lever. Also-as far as I know, they only put speed control on power brake cars. Also the N88 is always on the fender tag. That throttle cable clamp was used on a lot of different cc equipped cars, mostly C Bodies, could have came from anywhere. Did your car...

The 71 B Body uses the 1 pc rod. You will have to modify or lengthen. It helps to have the correct throttle bracket also.

Am i crazy (Driving 69 Satellite from Kentucky to Oregon)?

If you do come thru Nebraska, don't be hauling any drugs:lol:, they will catch you on I-80. Usually every week or 2 they have a big drug bust on I-80. Though it's usually Californians headed east. And they do go to jail!

Am i crazy (Driving 69 Satellite from Kentucky to Oregon)?

Something to think about, I haven't seen anyone mention it yet-Is the kickdown linkage intact, hooked up, and look right, has it had a 4 barrel swap? If not-your transmission could be on the way out as we speak. I've seen them go a long time before failure. Have the guy, that looked at it-go...

    Belt Question

I think the late 60's, early 70's they were embossed into the belt, then they started the white branding. The belt you show could be an original or one that was sent to the Mopar dealers that hung on their racks back in the day, before lean manufacturing begin. I work in what used to be a...
