    340 Run Stand Fun!

I would just recommend using really good casters as that makes a big difference.

    340 Run Stand Fun!

We used a similar setup except we set it up to hold the K-member so we could just lower the car down on it once it was ready. Was a nice way to break in a cam, retorque heads and headers and check for leaks.

Which is better and why? Old 440 or newer 6.4?

I know, that sound thing is so dumb it hurts me to think they actually made it. The car looks nice though.

Which is better and why? Old 440 or newer 6.4?

Yes the lifter issue is a known one with known solutions. It however does not plague the entire engine line and your bad luck is much less common then 150K good runners. A quick search on ebay will show you 5.7L trucks for sale with 175 to 345k miles on them. I am sorry you got two in a row...

Which is better and why? Old 440 or newer 6.4?

There are a lot of advantages that the modern hemi has over the 440 that don't get mentioned. The modern hemi is virtually gasketless and simply doesn't leak. You get modern alternator and AC compressor and they are driven by a serpentine belt (the power steering can be a minor hassle). The...

Depending on your level of crazy, we have used the "pivot" method in the past when absolutely necessary. I have done this during fabrication where the engine is coming in and out for fitting. Two jack stands on the frame rails in front of the rear tires with large c-clamps in front of them so...

    Installing my 440?

Chain and 2 bolts. Going under the intake may tear up the intake or even allow the engine to tip like dads bee said.

    A833 to a 383 Advice

Agreed, the Dakota bearing solves those issues.

    A833 to a 383 Advice

If the hole is about 1- 1 1/4" then it is drilled and may already have a bronze pilot bearing in it, if the hole is about 1/2 deep then no. If you snap a photo we should be able to tell.

    A833 to a 383 Advice

If your 383 crank is not drilled for the manual trans you will need to cut 9/16" off of the input shaft, taper it and use an aftermarket or Dakota roller pilot bearing.

Is this 4-speed worth looking into?

After taking a look at the craigslist ad I would stay away at that price. Just the way the parts are thrown in a pile in a box shows they don't give a crap. That is a $75-100 parts pig. You will be better off finding a complete one at a show or on a forum. Because you are looking to do a...
