Definitely have linkage geometry issues there. Once you get those solved, another thing to look at regarding having to pull the pedal back up with your toe, is the pin that anchors one end of the over center spring in the bracketry under the dash. I have seen quite a few of these wear quite a...
Had a similar experience that I will have to deal with over the winter. Ran SAE 140 in as per FSM (for summer use) for years. Changed all the fluids a couple of years ago, used Penzoil Synchromesh. Now tranny leaks and has contaminated the clutch.
Not sure of the manufacturer. The only markings visible are:
CHRYS-426
HEMI
I believe there may be a 1964 date cast in it that I cannot see when it is in the car. I did have to machine the input bearing opening larger to fit the '69 bearing retainer. That material is hard! Sparks...
Thanks Dan,
I was aware of that. I had to machine one years ago to fit. My car is a bit of a challenge as it has one of those early nodular iron or cast steel scattershields. I just checked my log book and this Hays unit has 15000 miles on it until it got contaminated.
I have used the search feature and come dry. My apologies if this has been answered, just indicate the link to me.
The clutch in my Charger has become oil contaminated due to a leak. I wish to replace it with a stock style B&B. Being as it is a stock '69 426 it is equipped with a 172 tooth...
I am late replying to this thread as I wanted to speak to my neighbor first. He swapped a Gen III Hemi into his '74 Challenger years ago, before any kits were available. He even fabbed his own intake manifold for a carburetor. As I thought, he used a 518. He told me he uses a toggle switch to...
I have been using Loctite 518 on all gaskets for years. It is particularly effective if you are replacing oil pan gaskets in the car. It will still cure if it get a drip of oil on it. RTV only at the juncture of the pan/rear main seal carrier and pan/timing chain cover.
LOCTITE 518
93 octane is fine for a street Hemi, especially if you can blend some leaded fuel in that will leave you with a lead content of .5 grams/gal. (protects the exhaust valve seats) For example: 1 part 100LL Av gas (2 grams/gal.) to 3 parts 93 pump gas will leave you with .5 grams/gal and give a...
I have owned and driven my '69 Charger R/T for 40 years. The Hemi has its need to be kept in tune for sure, but runs just like any other car from the era. Every 5000 miles I would complete the major tune up, including lashing the valves. Back when I drove mine to the NHOA meets and the Mopar...
A 50/50 mix of Lestoil and water sprayed on the engine and allowed to soak for 10-15 min. works great as well. Then just hose off with the garden hose. I use this all the time on my Charger and old F-150. My Jeep CRD's I pressure wash.
