I haven't touched a 4-spd trans or shifter in probably 3 decades,, but you could have wear in shifter,trans(needle bearings,shift forks, side cover plate) or shifter arm bushings or a combination of all the above that could cause problem. Just throwing out possibilities.

Try adjusting first like WileE says; you could have trans internal problem also. Think the "alignment" bar he talks about was about 1/4"dia and shaped like an Allen wrench.

Like KK said, also good grounds everywhere & what size are the batt.cables?( in trunk, I'd go with 2ga as a minimum)

Alex unless you want to spend $$$$& headaches go for a 4-bbl.

Alex that eBay probably won't work, I'm thinking your choke should be sitting down in the well in intake manifold. Also length of rod won't match up w/o a lot of bending.

No problem, the AVS has a spring-loaded "choke plate" over the secondary barrels. I like them better because a little bit easier to tune for secondary tip in.

Alex u do know u have an AFB right?I think AVS linkage is a little different .

Missing?! My youngest loses some of my stuff all the time(he's 43!). Anyone's guess why the choke rod is gone.

They don't need much but I'd lube up a new one also.
