Hi,
That won't work the clutch fan works off of the HEAT from the radiator to heat the spring in the clutch to make it grab and spin.

HI,
A google search for fan shrouds for 68 came up with this explanation
Early 1968 big blocks used a metal fan shroud similar to the one used on small blocks with an Aluminum radiator. This lasted until approximately vin 2500, after that it was switched to a fiberglass fan shroud to help cure...
HI,
In the picture of your carb I see a tube plugged on the passanger side? Could that be the bowl vent, as I don't see a vent over the bowl.. if that's the bowl vent it might be stopping fuel draw flow at speed? Just my .02

I usually use Premium Ethanol fuel 90+ oct. The past few times I've been using the Non-ethanol fuel with oct. of like 86.. Car seams to run better even tho the octane is lower. The car is a 1975 so it was built during the transition to Ethanol. When I rebuilt it the things I only changed were...
HI,
I think I'd run a compression check on it making sure it's not a internal problem with the low vacuum.. could also be valves..
Put a vacuum gauge on it and see what it says you can learn a lot with a vacuum gauge here's a link explaining on how to read one for symptoms of a problem...
HI,
your idle is too fast.. like I said earlier 650 to 750 rpm's at idle..At 850-900 your almost out of the idle circuit so the mixture screws are going to do almost nothing.. and the timing well be way off for what it should be... I've had a 516/543 lift cam in my 466 (BBF) and it idled 650-700...
Hi,
First thing I would look at would be to see if the accelerator pump is working... With the motor off look in the carb and move the accelerator linkage and see if there is a squirt of fuel on the first movement of the linkage. if no squirt then the accelerator pump is bad.
Hi,
If you don't have a pcv what kind of crank case ventilation do you have?
Without any ventilation you can blow out gaskets and oil out dip stick tube and the motor won't run very good with excess internal pressure.

YOU KNOW.. Now I know why this site does not have much action .. you guys are a bunch of jerks... A guy comes on here for help he gets two good answers .. then a bunch of JERKS jump in and start with the STUPID answers, Muffler barrens , Cock bites, valve bleed off??. and talking to them self's...
Hi,
a whistle is usually a vacuum leak gasket or such.. Actually idle should be like 650 to 750 .. 900 is high unless its highly modified big cam.. 1 1/2 turns on the mixture screws is just to get it running and should be adjusted with a vacuum gauge to highest vacuum at idle.
good luck take...
HI
Well if you look close you can see white paint under where he pulled the tag from.. So It was white under the hood... as far as the red tag only the painter knows..

HI,
i took this picture an enlarged it to 340 enlargement and I think I see hints of Red bleeding thru the black on the fender by where the tag came from and on the front around the latch.. Might just be an optical illusion?? someone else try it and what do you see. It also might just be...
Thanks,..
Nice car..
Does the Vin tag give interior color?? maybe it came with Red interior that would explain the vin tag being red most of the time (I think) the under hood color matches interior color? Maybe someone/time during its refurbish the interior was changed?
good luck take care...
