I seem to be with the majority - if I see a finely restored rare car I can appreciate it as if it's a time capsule -- I wasn't around for the 60s/70s so it is nice to see a fine restored car - but for my personal cars, I can't afford anything super rare - so my 68 Charger got resto-modded with a...
The factory power brake booster bolts directly to the firewall and uses a bellcrank linkage on the inside of the firewall to attach to the brake pedal.
I used one on my ole crate 360 engine... leaked... I ended up sanding the chrome off the bottom with a piece of sand paper layed on the concrete... the housing itself was warped because it only started taking material off the ends... So I sanded until it was smooth and put it back on...
the 66 console is different than a 68... it will work and everything just fine but the 66 console is a two piece shell - there the rear piece was different (the charger used a different one) so you'll have a seam but no big deal.

keep on it man - the factory 5.9L wiring isn't rocket science... just keep what you need and ditch the rest... i am currently making a harness for my 6.1L hemi and it is infinitely more difficult... I used the 5.9L computer to fuel inject a 440 before haha

Alright guys - 318 Poly in a 1966 Plymouth Satellite... Mine is currently blue... Chart says it should be red... I have seen a couple other 66 satellites with blue poly motors...
What is correct ?
Here's mine... 1966 Satellite - # matching 318 console shifted auto
Needs alot of work but only very minor rust and currently runs...
Need to do the brakes so I can actually drive her around.... Currently cocooned until I finish my 68 Charger and get the Road Runner back in one...
Yep - I have a 6.1 in my 68 Charger....
To answer some of your questions -
Transmission: if you want an auto you could go with a 518 OD, or a 727 with Gear Vendor's unit
Wheels: Mini-tub the rear for added clearance... could go with RMS "Street Lynx" system for something "trick"...
