The axles are retained externally just like the 8-3/4" axle. There is no need to remove the differential cover, but the axles will have to be removed. Is it necessary to change the backing plates to use the wider shoes?
I'm doing that to my '66 hemi Coronet, I'll let you know how it works. It has 11's in front and 10X2.5's in the rear, as it was originally a disc brake car. I'm putting 11's on the back so it is correct for a manual drum brake car.
I'll second that. You shouldn't need booster pressure to bleed brakes. Simple brake systems like these should actually gravity bleed if you're not in a hurry.
Did you look at the Monroney label? The car was originally equipped with PD brakes. The fender tag also verifies that. Good point on the single master, but it has been updated to a dual master cylinder.

The reason I'm asking is that there is an ebay seller in Canada who has the complete rear 11" drum setup for this car. It would be an easy way to have all the correct parts without running all over the place trying to find them. I would say that going back to power discs is the least likely...
According to the Monroney label, my '66 Coronet was supposed to come from the factory with the power disc brake option. The fender tag also decodes to that option. According to the article in the August '90 issue of Mopar Action magazine, the car "missed" the option as it was built, and came...
