I'm gonna go simple here. Alot of folks overlook the basics. Have you "pressure-tested" your radiator cap? As coolant heats-up, pressure increases. Yeah, we all know that. BUT, a weak cap can allow a significant amount of coolant to flow to the overflow container. From a quart, to nearly...
Found this on an R/C site. Hope it helps. http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread.php?8953912-How-do-you-whiten-nylon-plastic
My concern about any whitening to these is that it may become brittle. BTW, I think the part # is 3673834.
Juergen, Duralast is the American word for ****! The guys that re-build these throw all the housings, and all the impellers into big tubs. A Mopar impeller is just an impeller to them. One, six, 8, or eleven blades, they dont care. Whatever one is on top of the pile is what you get. So dont...
I have had great luck with Permatex 597, and 562. These are both hi-temp, and pressure sealants. They're both more than capable to hold the coolant in, and retain torque for threaded connections.
Just this summer I had an issue with my 95 Ram radiator. I could hold my hand against the lower 1/3rd of it at operating temperature. But could not touch the upper 2/3rds of the rad. You cant tell me that it cooled the water that much, so I think the bottom of of it is clogged. Might want to...
It can be repaired, but that is a lost art at most shops. They just want to replace stuff[easier]. It takes talent to do that, and it is usually not at those shops. My toolmaker friend at work does my stuff. He proved himself by tig-welding two aluminum pop cans together. No leaks!
A/c parts are kinda funny. Usually you can find an a/c clutch for $200, but they include a FREE compressor! I hope Barrys tip pans out. Usually it is just the clutch coil that burns out.
Ya know, I'm kinda getting tired of cooling problems. Problem is, you cant trust the fixes! Aftermarket water pumps have different impellers, aftermarket T-stats dont flow as well as factory [or the old Stant stuff we trusted] . I've been rebuilding 2.7 Chrysler motors lately, and most of...
Is this your Ram? Not as bad as it looks. You know what you are doing. I had a WP go in my 5.2, it was chewing up the back of the housing. It gave NO symptoms! Just started getting hot one day. Very true about the "no good deed"!
You need a fan shroud. The area of radiator that is not being ducted through the fan is being wasted. The installation of the shroud causes the "venturi-effect", just like your carb.
How did the overflow tank look? Weak radiator cap? If I'm right, the pressure would push into the tank when running and overflow it while driving, but at shut off, it could vacuum everything out of the tank.
cooler = more power. Hotter = cleaner. My 318 in the Ram has been rock-steady at 200 for 15 years. Just started going up to 225-30. I noticed that the upper fins were very hot, but I could hold my finger to the bottom fins. Thinking clogged radiator. Something for you to check?
