Late here to the this thread. Something I wanted to add here but, on the very early 2003 5.7L Hemi Rams with the 545rfe has a separate computer (TCM) for the transmission. In 2004, they integrated the TCM with the PCM. I've read the HP Tuner won't tune the TCM nor even the later 2004-2007...
My apologies for the delay in posting. Thank you for that information. Right now, I'm just hoping to use the 452s that on the current engine. For the purpose of this car the 452s suit the purpose fine but, if I ever have to get 240s then I will definitely keep this in mind with regards to them.
Being that's a real R/T I would stick with the 440 even not being numbers matching. The other biggest hurdle you may have to deal with is the camshaft and lifters on the 440. You want to ensure that what you got and depending on what you bought doesn't have any quality control issues. The...
My apologies for the delay in writing. I wanted to add to this thread that I ended with a set of Mickey Thompson's for around $160 shipped. They need polished which I can do. Again thank you for everyone. So, after these I may snag a spare set. Looking at the Cal Customs or the Mopar Performance...
There might be a couple of vendors out there that have them and eBay. I believe some vendor on Amazon on them has them but, they want I think $650ish? for the valve covers plus the air cleaner that goes with them.
The rocker arms are stock units. I apologize for not clarifying that the Mopar ones I'm referring to are the black wrinkle covers made in California I believe. Not the chrome ones made by Proform I believe it is.
Hello. I'm just wondering what's the better valve cover out these two choices? I tried searching here but, didn't come up with anything. I realize sometimes newer is better so that's why I wanted to ask? These will be going on a 440 with cast iron heads and Holley Street Dominator intake. Thank...
The engine seems to run well enough. I wouldn't do a cam unless I went with a rebuild anyways. Many years ago I traded for a 318 car that had a Summit Camshaft Kit in it. I'm not sure how the quality is these days but, never had any problems with the camshaft or lifters while I owned it.
I'm going to assume here but, I believe your goal is just to have a nice cruiser correct? The other part of this equation is where you cruise will you be driving more city miles (aka stop and go, heavy traffic) or lot's of highway without much stopping?
I won't do a full on rebuild at this point. Figure I'd think about doing a few mods first and going from there. I thought about doing Summit Headers as well. Had some of there headers on another B-Body in the past and was pleased with them for being a dailyish driven B-Body 318. Now that I...
For that 318 I'd recommend a the Summit K6900 Camshaft Kit and Cloyes Timing Chain/Gears. For the rear axle ratio I would go with 3.23s or a 3.55 ratio.
Just tossing ideas around but, thought about building a Day 2 type build on a 1975 440 truck (RV?) engine. The mods I'm considering is some headers, intake, and carburetor change maybe? Has 68-69 HP Manifolds on it now and stock cast iron intake with EGR Valve even. Not looking to raise...
Thank you for reply. I've heard mixed things about doubling up the gaskets and different methods in doing so. I'd rather get a thick quality gasket I have 1.7 rockers along with a lumpy camshaft. I've seen those Ansen Valve Covers but, I like the Mopar Magnums (my preference) better although...
I have a set of Mopar Magnum Valve Covers that I'm going to try to install on a 5.9 Magnum with Edelbrock Performer Heads and LA style covers. I'll be asking some questions over time so I'll start off with the first question. I'm just wondering what a good quality thick gasket is to use with...
