Are you ready for a real weird one? Random NO spark from a MP electronic ignition system despite numerous parts swapped around...

I totally get switching to EI to virtually eliminate periodic maintenance. I did it with a daily driver '66 Coronet for 10 years, but there's something very satisfying about getting a 50+ year old car to run and perform great using such a "crude" method by comparison to modern standards. I have...

These will also accept the fbo limiter plate. Bought 3 of these distributors from Rick for customers and all ran great.

Are you ready for a real weird one? Random NO spark from a MP electronic ignition system despite numerous parts swapped around...

Call me old fashioned, but the Charger has been running points since '68. Spare NOS points and condenser in the console and I wouldn't be afraid to drive it to California.

Are you ready for a real weird one? Random NO spark from a MP electronic ignition system despite numerous parts swapped around...

I was thinking the same thing since chasing a random stalling issue for over a year. Ran perfect then suddenly felt like you just turned the key off. Turned out to be one connection in the main engine harness. Heavier gauge black wire that went to the battery side of the alternator. Replaced the...

Battery goes dead, no obvious reason.

New Castle Battery made sure customers were aware of the discharge rate with the flooded batteries before the repros went to tandem gels. My current group 27 gel is 17+ years old. Best battery I've ever owned.

Battery goes dead, no obvious reason.

A flooded car battery will lose about 1% per day at room temperature from non use. More so at higher temperatures. He never answered what type of battery he's using.

Battery goes dead, no obvious reason.

In addition to what Mike suggested, even if you disconnect the pos terminal, any battery will self-discharge from non-use. Some faster than others, such as a lead-acid. What battery are you using?

    Ignition Lock Cylinder

I know on my 68 with the key turned to the first detent a spring loaded pin can be pushed in on the outside of the housing, allowing the cylinder to slide out.

    Coil question

This is exactly the reason I went with the Accel 8140. 1.4Ω primary resistance with a 0.5Ω ballast resistor. About as close to stock specs as possible.

    Coil question

Been using an Accel Super Stock #8140 with points. No issues. Edit: recommended by @Don Frelier thanks.

    Long cranking time to start

    This is from the OP.

    Long cranking time to start

I never use the starter without setting the choke and introducing raw fuel first. KD is right, the less cranking with a cold engine the better. Whether it sits for a day or a few weeks, mine starts within a few seconds. When you say "first start of the day", how long has it been sitting since...

Engine dies like key was turned off

Had a very similar symptom with mine over the summer. Turned out to be a poor connection in the main engine harness that ran to the battery side of the alternator (terminal P). After cutting out 3 times, got it back to the hotel parking lot at Carlisle, dropped the bulkhead down to the brake...

    Plug wire connection difficulty!

Just a guess, but if there is any excess grease being pushed into the female terminal connector, the terminal may be trying to displace it and not allowing it to fully insert. I would try to remove as much grease as possible and see if it improves anything.
