This has been discussed in prior threads. The stampings happened considerably earlier in some cases. I helped work on a one owner '68 Coronet R/T with the original (stamped) engine and trans. SPD was late Sept of '67.
A friend of mine in the early 90's had a triple black '68 Monaco 500 with the original 440 mag. Until then I thought they were only found in B-bodies with a performance package. Always interesting to see and learn new things about that era.
I have the 1905 650cfm manual choke version. Made the necessary changes to work with the original 45 choke. Cold idle improved as well as off-idle response. Used heavier metering rod springs but other than that it was good right out of the box. Easy to tune for idle quality. Power seems...
I had my 4429 totally restored and only use it for a larger judged show like Carlisle, and use an AVS2 for cruising and smaller shows to preserve the Carter. Best of both worlds.
Once I got home I decoded the tag and caught that too. I can only guess until I talk to the owner that it may have needed replacing and he decided to just leave it off after the repaint.
My one friend asked me to help with going over a list of things that a customer wants done before car show season. He's the original owner, never modified. Not that frequent anymore that you hear of people holding on to cars they bought in the 60's.
Pics from when 2nd owner brought it home in summer of '70 for the wife to haul the kids around. Still go to shows with him to this day. All sheetmetal and the same Magnums are still on the car.
From what I can tell, same as non-a/c cars but without the return spring bracket on the front intake bolt. Looks like the spring hooks to the rear of the compressor.
