You will need to remove the cardboard from the metal backing by either grinding of the stamped/punched holes that attach the two together or trying to straighten the punched areas to break the bond of the two. Then align the new cardboard and glue the two together. YouTube has a couple good...
That hole is not for the vacuum lines, they run under the dash and exit under the heater box on the passenger side. ill look at mine tonight and report back. That hole is for a wiring loom for either cruise control or hidden headlamps. I thought it may have been the hood release but I also think...
been busy last couple days, but still in the same boat. Everything works great, but when the doors go up, the motor over extends itself and locks the motor up. When you shut the lights off, If you just give the manual knob a "touch" it takes off and works great. not sure how I am going to...
I'm getting closer. My used Ebay replacement showed last night, and I put some time into it. The replacement has a much simpler switch arrangement. Before installing the replacement motor, I had to oil it up a bit to get free operation of the motor as it was very tight and hard to operate. Ive...
not sure what you mean by car sitting level, but yes it does, and doors are level also. I'm afraid my memory didn't kick in until it was to late, and ive already damaged the motor by running it unhooked. It still operates, but I've started to damaged the plastic gear. Ive checked the switch...
Anyone know anything about the hidden headlamps on a 71 charger? My charger had the original hidden headlamps replaced with a standard grille. After finding the original grill, doors, electrical, and motor, today I test fired the system. The problem im running into is when the doors are opened...
Ok, next question. Pulling the center section out of the R/T for a 4.10 switch and discovered the drums are 11x2 1/2''. I was under the impression this car should have 10'' rear drums. It does have front disc's. The fender tag code is 042 that translates to 3.23 open w/10'' drums. I have a...
My charger build is early, 9-70, with an AM/FM and rear speaker. Not sure if the AM/FM is original, but addition of the rear speaker could be a good indicator
Im assuming the 31''inch mast on your cars were the fixed style??? If I read it correctly your repair manual shows three different lengths and four different part numbers. and again it appears (my Guess) to me that the short 31'' would be fixed and the talls would be the telescoping. Now, what...
yes that helps. So they do exist bigger for the 71 B-body. I just need to wait for the correct repro's to come around or find the correct used ones. I did pick up a pair but they are the incorrect smaller versions.
I'm looking for the correct Magnum emblems to replace the Six Pack emblems on my 71 R/T charger. I had an order in with year one that was on backorder for ever, cancelled it and found a couple emblems elsewhere. Unfortunately these do not fit and I am thinking they are for an E-body. The Six...
The threaded rod in my 71 charger was to short for this G/60/15 setup. I had to find a longer rod that would allow the hook and base to work. this threaded rod measure just over 10 inches. The door sticker says minimum tire size G/70/14, but that doesn't say what the spare was
Had the same issue with my 71 charger. I decided to go with the repro Goodyear G-60 tires and the spare would not fit correctly because the threaded rod is to short. I don't know what the car originally came with, but im guessing an F 70 at best. there are several different rod lengths out...
