Back in the late 70's I experienced it... 383, over 6K rpm's & the oil pressure dropped to the point the idiot light came on & the gauge confirmed it... Shut it down, a minute later fired it up & the oil pressure was fine....
The engine had a Crower 280 duration 500 lift cam & kit, hooker...
I'm looking at the Russell angled fittings at O'Reilly's, they say "1/8 Inch NPT", but I believe we have 3/16" outer diameter brake lines? Are the Russell fittings compatible?
I would not worry too much about pumping the pan dry with a big block and shaft rockers. Powell machine has a u-tube video debunking this for most engines. Even with bearing clearance at .002 I could never get by with a standard pump....you need about 10 psi per thousand rpm. I would not leave...
I left the Jacob's ladder off
the list mainly due to this
type axle housing control
"system" being mainly used
on sprint cars with the ability
to raise and lower roll
centers, though they do offer
suspension adjustments as
well.
Sprint car chassis are
narrow, and as such,
limit the lengths of...
I didn't build it. Psi was just fine but the pump body itself starting leaking externally. I thought the same things dog did so I bought a std pump.
Intentional or not, the engine needs the hv at low rpm for pressure.
I found this out the hard way as well when I replaced an hv with std without thinking much of it.
My warm psi is much worse than you report. I put an hv back on it and we'll see how it is this weekend
First I would temporarily attach a calibrated master gauge, compare it to your dash so you know if the dash is close to truth...
Second high volume pumps have been known to pump most of the oil up into the top of the engine quicker than it can find it's way back to the pan....
Parting 70 Coronet 440.
Every bolt part will be removed if we want the part. So it will be a stripped NON ROLLING SHELL. (SHELL DEFINED...NOTHING EXCEPT THE SHELL IS LEFT)

A few questions..
What brand of gasket was it?
Has the big slots.. industrial?
Did you use a sealer?
My street 383 would blow a little out in the burnout box for years. Finally leaked internal. Always attributed it to the fact that I never sprayed the gasket, just installed dry
That's not a b body hump so you're probably going to have trouble making the carpet fit nicely. A 4 speed carpet would fit better than auto but still might not fit due to the size and possibly location of that hump. The carpets are somewhat molded to fit the countours of the floor and hump.
I...
The $100 bill is the most counterfeited currency in the world. I was in Thailand one time and cruising the streets. I came upon a vendor with some really nice knockoff high end watches - A very recognizable brand. A couple of Middle-eastern dudes were also looking. They opted to buy several each...
Attempted again today, bent my breaker bar and then the socket side made a pop sound. It spread apart exposing what I assume is the broken pin.
I don't forsee me getting this thing any tighter.
Fluid was flowing out the original seal, so I saw it as a needed repair.
Bummer.
